Truly awful - if I could leave zero stars I would. This is the second time I've had a take out from here when staying with my parents, and both times it's been disappointing at best and inedible at worst. We ordered for the second time to give them another chance - the first time we ordered a take out from them, they just completely missed my entire meal from the lot - when we called to get a replacement, they just said that it would be on them next time, but as I had to share everyone else's food and I wasn't really a fan, coupled with the way they handled the mishap, we never really fancied ordering again. However, we did ultimately give them another shot after speaking to Naz(?) when we passed the restaurant walking through the village. He actually promised that he would comp the entire meal as an apology. I didn't expect this, just purely one "free" meal as a replacement for the one that we had already paid for yet never received. In any event, when we went into pick up (and pay) no one knew anything about it and we paid for the entire meal. When we got it home, there wasn't anything missing, but there were a whole host of problems, and upon calling the phone just consistently rang out. I ordered the Butter Chicken (something that I always opt for, and something that DOES NOT contain coconut milk). What arrived was some bright pink, coconut filled concoction that was so sweet I couldn't eat. My mum offered to share her Tandoori chicken, but this was so dry and wasn't exactly enough for two. Instead I just opted to eat the naan bread and ate the majority of the starters we'd ordered to share for myself. On the topic of the naan bread - we ordered two plain naan, instead we received two naan stuffed with strips of lamb? Upon inspection of the menu I think this was two Keema naan... To top it all off, we received really rude service from a member of staff when we went to collect. After "finishing" our meal, and I use the term loosely, as we didn't exact eat it, we eventually got through and asked to speak to the owner, but he was conveniently too busy to talk. We were promised a call back, but this has yet to happen. The only good thing to come of this, the nice girl on the phone did mention that the member of staff that was so rude to us has had numerous complaints issued against him!! Oh and if this wasn't bad enough, this place doesn't even have a food standards agency rating despite being open for over a year! Definitely...
Read moreAbsolutely dire service, booked a table for 7pm Christmas eve, appreciate it's a very busy time but clearly booked tables knowing they didn't have enough space, or staff. Despite paying deposits and preordering our food we waited 40 minutes and were constantly told 2 more minutes. Another group were waiting for the table they booked at 6.15pm. They were allowing people in for just drinks and takeaways which meant the bar was crammed. After waiting and being fobbed off we asked for our deposit back to leave and Naz the owner rudely snatched the money from the till, and shooed us out. This also happened two years before, we thought we'd give them a second chance, what a waste of time. Never again. I suggest naz and his team organise the bookings properly in future when they know it's going to be a very busy night. Sahib will be getting my business...
Read moreI'll be kind and say "Uneven." I've been in Spice several times, though not since they reopened post-pandemic. When they're on, service is great, food is delicious, the atmosphere is lively and warm. When they're off, it's pretty costly for a mediocre meal and AWOL service. We were in over the holidays. We kept trying to flag the attention of a server - that took nearly half-an-hour. When we finally placed our orders (two meals, straight off the standard menu, nothing fancy) it took over an hour for them to arrive, and then only after we inquired a couple of times. We practically had to tackle someone to bring the bill - they brought us the wrong one (which was over twice what our true bill cost), wanted to argue why it was ours, and finally conceded they would redo it. No apologies. Not sure we'll...
