We thought it was going to be a Carvery where we could choose our own veg & exactly what was on our plate. It is advertised as a Carvery. We were told the beef would be rare (pink) but it wasn’t. Surprisingly, no horseradish to go with it for my husband. I was presented with a plate with 2 huge Yorkshires. I could only eat one & would have preferred more veg. The table we were seated at - having reserved - looked as if it should have been sent to the tip long ago. Photo attached. We were moved to another table when we asked. My Triple Choc Brownie was disappointing - the cake was dry. My husband’s Banoffee Cheesecake was actually a baked New York one with some slices of banana & caramel sauce on top. Again, not what he expected. Absolutely NO atmosphere in the place & the sorrowfully scant customers told a tale - the place was virtually empty. Unfortunately, we wouldn’t choose to eat there again. We have also been to the Toby Carvery in Chaddesden where all was freshly carved in front of us with masses of dishes of a huge variety of fresh veg for us to help ourselves &, if we wanted, we could go back for more. The atmosphere was buzzing and the decor comfortable. The meal was half the price of the Oast House! We WILL be going to the Toby again!

Now then pal......rolled back the years today with a trip to the oasthouse to see how it's changed over the years and for a spot of lunch! I'll be honest with ya pal the tables and chairs have definitely seen better days and especially where we were seated. The chair I sat in was stained to high heaven and looked like whoever had last frequented it had followed through but luckily it was dry to touch and just badly stained! My knife had what looked like the remnants of someone's Brussel sprout on the end of it but luckily when my food arrived it came with a clean steak knife 🔪 The food and service was lovely and spot on though but it was extremely cold in the place like they are trying to save on heating? 🔥 It was also extremely quiet. Before we left I nipped to spend a penny and wow.......the toilets were in better nick than the restaurant! Surely you refurb the restaurant first before the toilets........not this place pal!

I had an amazing experience while visiting your restaurant. I had a great welcome from Emma, even though she had been at work since 0600hrs. I was in at 1900hrs. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent so was the couple of pints I had to accompany my meal. For breakfast next day, I was really surprised to see Emma in again so early. Emma and Tasha both made my breakfast experience exceptional. I do hope that Management understand how good your employee's are. They are a credit to your restaurant and they deserve proper remuneration for their hard dedicated work. Unfortunately I was unable to give them a tip, as I was Paying by card and there is no means of acceptance of a tip on the computer system. I did personally thank everyone.

Had a lovely xmas 2017 meal here, with my family. It was a first time visit for us, so impressions mean a lot, for future references. The bar/restaurant, is situated in the grounds of 'Premier Inn', off of 'Osmaston Park Road, Derby', & is built on the former army barracks ground. The place looks appealing however, the restaurant seating area is quite small, &, we found the bar seating area, needs renovation work. The bar staff ( even with only a few of us, at the bar), rarely cracked a smile, were very slow, &, the drinks, a little on the expensive side. Not one of my favourite places, but gr8 for food, at the time, 24th, December, 2017. In the year of 24th December, 2018, i booked a table at this place again, 3 weeks prior to attending, &, requested 'Turkey Dinners' for 6 of us (2 of the people were in their 80's, with 1 being totally blind). On the day in question, upon arrival, we were informed that we had to have chicken, as what 'Turkey' they had left, they wanted for xmas day then, when all 6 of us were their, it took them 20 minutes to get someone to take our order, yet there were only us, &, a family of 8 in the restaurant (who had been already waiting their 1.5 hours, for their food, after ordering a 3 course meal, who had walked out once but, came back, &, waited a further half hour, whilst we were their, before getting their starter). We had waited for 55 minutes for our starter (1hr 15 min's overall), before we complained to the manager, who then informed us that, his chef didn't show up for work so, he's having to do the cooking. 10 min's later (1hr 25 min's overall), we all got our dead easy to make starter, &, had to wait a further 45 minutes after that, for our main course (chicken). After giving the manager another piece of our minds, at the end, they still had the audacity to charge us full price so we stressed that we'd never go back their, after all of that rigmourole!!! 'I WHOLLY, DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE FOR FOOD, OR, DRINKS, AS THEY ALL WORK AT #SNAILS PACE'!!! DISGRACEFUL BEHAVIOUR BY ALL LAZY STAFF MEMBERS THEIR,...

Not visited for a while since previous poor experience we thought we would try again... Unfortunately this wasn't that much improved frim our previous visit 😞 We ordered ▪︎ Serlion steak (medium rare) - Didn't taste like it had been seasoned. Warm. Not left to 'rest' so bled. Fat needed rendering ▪︎ Scampi with mushy pease & mashed potatoes instead of chips - Scampi lacked any moisture & not red hot. Mashed potatoes were warm & dry in texture. Not fluffy & creamy how you would expect mashed potatoes to be. Mushy peas - tiny amount & luke warm & not moist!! ▪︎ Gammon - Lovely despite a very small portion for the price!!

Overall - ▪︎ Quality of meals very poor for two out of three. Even though we had discount on two meals, it didn't make up for them not being up to standard ▪︎ Have meal portions been reduced in size??? Not good value for money!! ▪︎ Atmosphere was very 'sombre', no excitement despite there being Christmas decorations. And it was freezing cold!! 🥶 ▪︎ Although waitress was polite she seemed very 'busy' even though most tables were empty but she was 'here, there & everywhere' so service appeared slow. She was called away for a while so one table left unfinished from setting up with cleaning products on top & an empty tray stand with cleaning products hanging from it was next to our table from the moment we arrived till we left so we used it to clear our own table after our meal which the waitress took away without saying anything (maybe she hadn't realised what we'd done??). ▪︎ I thought this time around our meal & overall experience would have been better from our previous visit, but unfortunately it wasn't ▪︎ Unfortunately we won't be recommending this...

Our waitress Tasha went above and beyond. Unfortunately when my meal was delivered it had a hair sitting on my egg, we discretely called our waitress over and her response was perfect... apologies (and its just one of those things that happen) immediately, plate whisked away, pops back and apologises again we're so sorry kitchen are re-cooking your meal and I will bring it as soon as I can... my father whispered they're probably just going to whip the egg off and cook you a fresh one... which actually would have been fine as that's all it was touching... a little bit of a wait and a completely fresh meal was popped in front of me... beautifully cooked and presented, steaming hot... and we're advised that the meal will be comped...

I trained as a waitress in the late 80's and that was the industry standard, if there is an issue with the meal it should be replaced and comped... never once has anyone ever provided that perfect service in 36 years... until Tasha yesterday.

I don't make a habit of complaining but having multiple qualifications in customer service I do believe that anyone who is prepared to make a complaint should also be prepared to acknowledge when the service goes above and beyond, we're far more inclined to complain than praise, positive feedback is far more likely to create a much more positive and happier place to be... Tasha thank you!...
