Old Farmhouse - Hungry Horse (Scunthorpe) — Restaurant in England

Great reception from the member of staff at the computer. Shown to our table promptly. Drinks and meals ordered at the bar. Drinks served in plastic cups on match days even though I hadn't been to a match!!!! Only waited 15mins for 3 meals to arrive. I can see why!!! Waitress put food down and set off to leave, we asked for cutlery and she flippantly called over her shoulder "cutlery station". We called her back to ask where that was and she waved her arm in a vague direction!!!

I chose the southern fried chicken skewer on a sizzler. Well the skillet was burnt black, no sizzle not even luke warm with burnt remnants of peppers and onions. It was as if it was for someone who ordered it an hour ago. The chicken looked like it was coated in concrete if I'd dropped one it would have broken my foot. I left all the veg and cracked open the chicken coating to try and eat the encased chicken. Even though I told the member of staff who came to check, nothing was done nor did the waiter return as he'd promised. Sadly my meal was mostly uneaten just the chips and the corn on the cob. Still hungry I ordered the crumble and custard which was really nice. I have since been told nothing is cooked fresh with Greene King, just reheated. I won't be eating here again. My friend had gammon and she left some as she said it was so dry. Other friend had chicken too and said it was ok. Overall poor service and dreadful food...

From the moment we walked into The Old Farmhouse, we were greeted with a genuine smile and made to feel completely at home. The staff are some of the most welcoming and attentive people I’ve ever met — nothing was too much trouble, and their friendly attitude really added to the warm, relaxed atmosphere of the place.

The food was absolutely outstanding. Every dish was cooked to perfection, beautifully presented, and bursting with flavour. You can really tell that a lot of care and attention goes into both the ingredients and preparation. Whether it’s a hearty classic or something a bit more refined, everything tastes freshly made and full of love.

Customer service here is truly second to none. The team went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed — checking in just the right amount, refilling drinks promptly, and even offering great recommendations from the menu. It’s rare these days to find a place where both the food and service are consistently top-notch, but The Old Farmhouse manages to do it effortlessly.

Absolutely appalling service. Wrong order given, 1 of our family had their order cancelled unknown to them , so they would have had to sit and watch us eat someone else's order, then after asking to speak to the manager she said Salmon was on the menu, after being told it wasn't by the waitress, it was asked for by a family member with special dietary needs. We asked for a refund, it took her 15mins to do it . We said we were going to go somewhere else, and she actually said that we'd get the same service at any other pub in Scunthorpe, as they were all franchises. We didn't, we got great service at The Anchor. We've also cancelled an up and coming birthday meal there, we'll go to The Anchor. Our family visit doesn't even deserve 1 star. Totally incompetent service on Sunday july 7th. They were back and forth, messing up everyone's orders. She even rolled her eyes when my husband politely asked for the refund.
