I visited the Penn Hill store the other day, and I have absolutely nothing but good things to say about this store. The products are good, and well presented, but what made my experience was the staff. So welcoming, friendly and helpful. They work together as a team to provide high quality service. Jason, the manager, served me and went through all the sandwiches that were on offer, and then made up the MOST AMAZING sandwich I have ever eaten! 10/10. I also had a beautiful coffee made to perfection by Katie, who took the time to ask me about my day. Once I had finished my sandwich and coffee, I bought some bread, with help from a lovely lady called Ash, who took the time to go through each loaf. I don't usually write reviews, but I felt obliged to give feedback, as I believe in giving praise where praise is due. Staff makes a company great, and the staff in Penn Hill make this company FABULOUS, they are a credit to PMB! I will visit again, as have been made to feel so welcome in this store, so thank you...
Read moreThe food at MBs can be very good, but on other occasions less so, with pastries being the most consistent and with a decent range. The sausage rolls and pasties can be incredible, but the pasties can be too salty or the sausage rolls, very dense … it seems to depend on the batch on each day. The flavours are generally good though. I think the sandwich menu needs to be refreshed, there are plenty of options but somehow they’re either a bit too similar, or too rich for a light lunch.
The service is very up and down, poor listening, often slow to give you the last item, or as in my last 2 visits, I got home to find that I was given something different. Such a shame, I would use MBs every week for lunchtime takeaways, but these...
Read moreThe croissants are not croissants. The French would be ashamed. They are soggy in the middle, soaked in butter, stogie, soggy, heavy. The bread is kept for 2-3 days and sold at full price. Sandwiches are good - but very expensive. There is no customer service - in any of Mark Bennet's bread shops - they are not really patisseries (again, insult to the French). Seem to be bitter divorced women looking for the next wealthy catch, or young girls talking about glitter and the weekend. Often left after waiting 10 x minutes for a coffee..! It shows there is a need for quality sandwich shops with good service in the area. These are not quite...
