Planned to arrive here and eat to break up a long journey. Arrived right on time just before opening time, rain coming down and wind blowing. So imagine the annoyance of getting to the door and finding it still locked 3-4 mins after opening time. I mean do they want business or what as there are other places to go in the area.
So I called the restaurant to ask if they were open. A voice said yes, so I asked then why am I waiting outside the front door in the rain! The same voice/person came and let us in! Sorry but thatâs just lazy and poor. Iâd just fire someone for lying and not even opening on time in my business like that.
So on then to the food experience. Having not been to Pizza Hut for 20 years I decided to try a buffet, with pasta option, and salad, plus unlimited drinks refills deal (ÂŁ20).
For starters the staff hadnât bothered to turn on the syrup machine on the self service soft drinks properly so all it dispensed was plain coke. How come they hadnât found time to open the front door as they hadnât spent it making sure everything was 100% before opening! Sloppy. Staff members were more interested in folding out some boxes for take away delivery - 2-3 of them doing this whilst I waited to order and start servicing myself - than get the place ready it seemed.
To be honest the salad is so basic I wouldnât bother, itâs either bland stuff like cucumber, or very plain tasteless salad leaves you might as well get a salad pot at a nearby service station for half the price which it would be more tasty.
The pasta dished out on the buffet I took one look and didnât bother. Only two types one creamy and one tomato based. Both looked very basic and boring literally just plain pasta shapes in basic sauce.
So on then to the pizza. I had to laugh at this point as the member of staff taking my order was getting tetchy what I wanted as seeing as the place has just opened and few people were in they didnât want to make loads of pizza for the buffet only to see it get chucked away. Noting the issues above itâs laughable they were penny pinching on a few materials given the lousy experience so far! Iâd be more worried about what Iâd seen so far if I was the manager than a few bits of wasted pizza slices.
So the pizzas themselves were passable, the best bit of the experience which I know isnât saying much but credit where itâs due. Theyâre much more basic made in a deskilled way (kids on minimum wage not a chef) than rival pizza places but they tasted ok given those limits.
âAtmosphereâ wise - Google maps prompted me to ask this - come on there isnât any! Itâs a chain restaurant off a dual carriageway in chain colours and decor. Itâs about a million miles from a family run Italian pizza place. When full it would be noisy rather than atmospheric!
So all in all a food experience 3 times the price of a nearby kfc or McDonaldâs and about as good food wise, with sloppy service! Iâd...
Read moreMy family stopped for lunch at the Pizza Hut in Solstice Park, good welcome, good food, no hassle. Service was quick and most of the staff were very friendly!
However, my experience at the end of the meal was shocking ! I requested the childrenâs menu card so the kids could choose desert from the set menu and a different waitress to our original one went to get. She practically brought it, TOSSED it at us and turned on her heel, she didnât even wait to hear the order. We were shocked, there hadnât been any issues with anyone or even her, her behaviour was unexplainable, save bad manners.
Next, we were ready to leave and wanted the bill. We couldnât see the very kind lady whoâd attended to us at the start so I directed my âexcuse meâ at one of the other waitresses who wasnât far from our table... I called out 3 times, each time in a louder voice, the young lady made a beeline towards the staff door away from me and within 5 seconds was back out headed in a different direction. Another badly behaved waitress? My husband got hold of the manager, he took our payment and we left.
I thought of mentioning the two incidents to the manager but decided not to because I didnât think it would make a difference. Iâm leaving a review for Managementâs awareness.
Just so you are aware, my family is Black, itâs possible that these two members of staff are not generally badly behaved, perhaps theyâre just not comfortable around Black people (there werenât many to be seen around). Itâll do the brand loads of good, to educate its staff about relating to Black customers just the same way as their White customers, theyâre all human and deserve equal respect...
Read moreThere's 3... no 4... no 6 types of pizza. Cheap supermarket pizza, moderately priced supermarket pizza, cheap takeaway pizza, moderately priced takeaway pizza, Pizza Hut pizza and restaurant pizza. As a professional pizza eater and as it features top of my food loves, I feel quite qualified to rate Pizza Hut. I've never witnessed a bad member of staff, they're always friendly and helpful and have a smile. Now you may dine at a busy time of the day, so might encounter a lack of times your waiter/waitress comes to the table, but that'll be because they're working hard to keep customers happy. Food always comes in around 15 - 20 mins. During Covid lockdown, starters and mains were being served simultaneously, but that seems to have changed back now. Food always is served freshly cooked. Salad bar is normally stocked and fresh. I like the new and ever changing menu. I would though say that although it changes/ evolves, it always has the old favourites. Vegi and vegan options are growing which is a huge plus. A good variety of drinks and refillable fizzy drinks. Fairly good pricing, but higher than a few years back. Their range of pizzas is excellent and there will be something for everyone, from toddler, pre-teen, teen, adult, pensioner, fussy eater, fancy eater (flat bread pizza) or lunchtime buffet guzzler. Great place to eat and a nice treat for the kids, ALWAYS brings a smile to our faces and we ALWAYS leave feeling full. I also credit them for cleanliness and hygiene. Well done Pizza Hut for standing the test of time and keeping up with pizza trends. As my son says... you can't out pizza the hut! Not sure why, but...
