Solstice Bar & Grill — Restaurant in England

Looking forward to a nice meal after reading a couple reviews online. However, upon arrival things quickly took a turn after members of our party have recognized a waitress who has previously caused discomfort. Taking this into consideration brought me to the negative reviews. Safe to say my expectations were lowered.

Upon being seated at a round table in the center of the room, we felt a draft and it was quite cold. This was later corrected by turning up the heating. (Thanks Billy)

We didn't receive a menu to select our drinks from, so I went to the bar to see which drinks they offer.

For meals they had a nice list. No starters as a category, yet that's a minor preference. I ordered the usually meal, a rib eye steak cooked medium. Some time after ordering I was asked which sides I wanted with my steak. This was confusing to me, as it is clearly stated on the menu.

As a starter we had the daily soup, which was quite nice. A little salt made it pop.

After around 40 minutes wait, our mains arrived. I was already a little puzzled by the presentation as the steak look well done. The dish itself wasn't badly put together but something wasn't right. Cutting the meat on one side was tough. It was well done, the fat wasn't rendered and the seasoning was unevenly distributed. One bite salty, the other bland. I was hoping the thicker part of the meat was cooked more to my request. Little did I expect, it was raw. A raw steak isn't bad, but raw and well done in one when you order medium... it baffles me.

Eating more of the steak I gave into the unwell feeling building up in my stomach and retreated briefly.

Safe to say, I wasn't happy.

The other dishes all looked great, little feedback was given. Less mayonnaise on the burger would have made it better. The Fish'n'chips were good and the Indian food was nice.

The desserts (crumble) were nice, although a tad watery. Most likely defrosted.

All in all it was a shame. As a lover of good food and service I coudln't bring myself to leave a good review. No matter how nice the next service shift was.

Worst meal experience I've ever had.

I called to book a table, the hotel receptionist put me through to the bar who picked up the phone and immediately hung up after ringing for some time. Clearly didn't want customers! I rang back immediately to advise what had happened however the hotel receptionist immediately apologised and said "I'm so sorry that just happened, I just watched them do that, I'm furious. I will go through and speak to them now and ask them to pick up the phone". This should have been my warning not to book here! I was put through a second time and booked again. On arriving at the restaurant, they didn't have any reservation in my name, despite advising me on the phone they'd booked a table for me. the pizza was a £1.79 frozen pizza from Lidl. Confirmed by the supervisor working that night when I verbally complained. He said he wasn't happy that they had purchased a Lidl frozen pizza to serve but that was the decision that had been made by the kitchen staff. The chicken dish was frozen, then tasted like it had been reheated. It wasn't edible. 1 steak was "ok", the other steak was rubbery, disgusting and looked like it had been freshly picked up from the road. We waited ages for the drinks to arrive. The server brought out an incorrect drink, eventually replaced it with the correct drink. We were charged for both drinks. At the end of the meal when I asked to speak to the supervisor, I was told he had gone outside for his break. I had to sit and wait for 5-10 minutes for his return. He returned to his staff but didn't make any effort to come over to me, I had to find him within the restaurant.

I've made three separate complaints: In person complaint ignored. Telephone complaint ignored. Email complaint ignored.

I'm still waiting for a response to all three and these were made months ago!! I suspect they're not going to bother getting in touch! The customer service in this place was appalling from...

Went today for a roast dinner that is served as a buffet style and must say it was terrible for the price of the meal £25.00 3 course there was 1 option of starter being a soup that was actually nice however the roast dinner was shocking had cold meat no veg at all and asked for brocoli and mixed veg and got 2 carrots(whole) and 3 small lumps of cauliflower..the potatoes were stone cold and the deserts were none existent there was a good range however nothing was being replenished as it was eaten by other customers so for me and my partner there was a one slice of cake and that was it again nothing being replaced absolutely shocking they expect that money for them options when you can go just across the road and pay a lot less and keep going back for hot food and a good selection also with deserts prepared in the kitchen and not buffet style..the staff were stood doing nothing most of the time and there was empty hot plates in the buffet area. The chef seemed to not understand what bread sauce or broccoli was im not one to leave poor reviews only good normaly but had to mention this and...
