Poppies Cafe Newchurch Isle of Wight — Restaurant in England

Unfortunately had a very expensive and utterly awful meal at The Poppy cafe this afternoon. We order one roast pork, one macaroni cheese, one burger and chips, plus I asked for a veggie roast. They said they didn't have an alternative but could remove the meat and give it to the other pork roast, lastly 4 tins of coke. This totalled £54!! My 'veggie' roast was smothered in meat gravry and had pork crackling on plate. The veg had no flavour and roast pots had no potato inside, just roasted skin! My husbands pork looked anemic. My sons burger was cooked to death, almost black, side salad very limp and sad. Macaroni cheese looked OK, but certainly not worth the money, again with a pathetic looking side salad. Due to this being our main meal for the day with extra funds for the evening I encouraged the family to eat up and do our best to get through it. Absolutely shocked to find a hair on food as finishing up. We not be returning. Well below standard and way over priced. Easy to access, all on the flat. Lots of parking, toilets baby changing. Cafe seating inside, or out amongst the plants and flowers. Tables with sunshades. Wide range of food. From cakes and scones, sandwiches 🥪 to full breakfast, and much more. Caters for vegetarians . Friendly helpful staff. Definitely recommend. Up date 2024 I'm a vegetarian, and I love the vegetarian breakfast, which is served all day. They make their own cakes , we choose two slices to take away for weekend tea times , very yummy! Limited variety and subpar breakfast! Only offered 3-4 types of breakfast, all a variety ‘English breakfast’ that was tasteless and terribly oily. Beans tasted as if they had come from a can. Service, while friendly, was a bit slow. Bread was thick cut and delicious and perhaps the best bit of the whole breakfast. Would not recommend for breakfast if you are used to very high-quality breakfasts or home-made...
