Rafferty's Cafe & Winebars — Restaurant in England

Honestly one of the worst dining experiences I have ever encountered. We were seated in the corner next to the kitchen, next to us was a filthy fridge. We could hear all the kitchen staff talking and how they had forgotten to take off the mushrooms on one of the orders (severe mushroom allergy). I ordered the steak and when it arrived it was the black and burnt. When I reported this to Mr Rafferty, he told me that it was “Chargrilled”. I appreciate this, but it was completely burnt and inedible. I mentioned the dirty fridge, but he simply said we could have moved tables if we had wished. It obviously takes time to sit down and look around before you notice such things. I wanted to offer some constructive comments but he could not have been less interested. We are on holiday in St merryn and like to go out for meals in the evenings. We had a wonderful dining experience here at Raffertys. We were really looked after by Aisling, she was very helpful and friendly. All the staff were great with our boys. We all had lovely meals. My steak sandwich was perfect after a day golfing and my husband said his muscles were very tastey. My boys were quiet during their meal which is always a good sign. My son particularly enjoyed his Spanish doughnuts, he found the shape of them hilarious. We all enjoyed a nibble. Wasn't expecting them to he so cinnamon tasting. Yummy. Definitely recommend the restaurant as it's a high quality, chilled out restaurant one can enjoy with the children....

We booked a table for 4 at 5:30 in the outside area. The food and the customer service was good. We ordered dessert and liquor coffees at 7:30 and had barely finished eating when the manager came out and told us the table was for only 2 hours and we needed to leave so they could get the table ready for the next people. At no point were we informed of this and had we been made aware we would not have ordered desserts or drinks. We had to rush our drinks and walk home in torrential rain after spending over £180 on food and drink whilst we were there.
