Pleasant enough traditional bakery that prides itself on its sourdough products. You can have a coffee and a pastry there but it is chiefly a take out store. If price is an issue, or you want a pie or a sausage roll for example, then you’d best head to Wenzels a few doors along. Update: I think my review was fair but the subsequent response from the bakery was simply snobbish and rude - and ultimately counter-productive. I’m not particularly a fan of Wenzels but I doubt you’d taste the difference between their “cheap” sausage rolls and the superiority-complex version Rex are offering. 2nd update: Oh golly “lol, just hilarious” that this person at Rex is so insecure and paranoid about the competition and that - good grief - a customer would dare to leave anything but a 5* review - they find it necessary to keep responding in patronising and sarcastic tones. I now think I was overly generous in giving a 2* review; certainly wasn’t for their people skills. The inference that opting for any other outlet means buying unhealthy food is pompous and wholly inaccurate. Sourdough and other products with ridiculously-pretentious names might be the fads of choice right now, but by and large Rex - like all other bakeries - sell products that won’t be kind to your waistline or your general health in the longer term. Clearly Rex are raking in such profits they do not need to court new business or care for retaining existing custom. Good luck with that, particularly in these...

I have been a coffee customer and lunch / breakfast eating inside for many weeks now. Great staff, amazing bread great food. Lovely to know it’s on our doorstep. The best thing to happen in Ascot for a long time and just what the high street needed. Brilliant brilliant. Recently I needed to organise a lunch for a team of hard working people … I made soup and cake and then thought I would buy fresh bread from Rex. Then I worried how would I manage to get the bread , well Rex do click and collect . How wonderful . Ordered three days ahead and got 6 large loaves. Picked up 7.45 am all fresh . My team of 30 gardeners said the best part of the day !! The bread !! Well I knew it would be . Rex sourdough and malted oat sourdough . Award winning bread and delicious . So easy to order online and pick up . Will do it again for sure Thank you so much everyone at Rex. Please support this local bakery as we are so lucky to have them. Healthy fresh bread what’s not...

I am from Galicia, and got very excited to see in your website that you sold Pan Gallego. I travelled 25 miles just to visit you and I was dissapointed to buy a bread that was only similar to the real deal on the knot on top. It is a tasty bread, but it doesn’t even look like the one of the picture on your website. The one I got is darker, covered in semolina and with a firm crumb. Real pan gallego is light in color, no semolina outside and a very open, light crumb, with a hint of sourness in the taste. Maybe in 2015 when you won the price it was more similar to real pan Gallego, but right know it should be called something else. Also the cleanliness of the place could be much better, the floors and counters needed a...

I’ve been a big fan of Rex, ever since they opened. Their bread is superb, especially their Pan Gallego, but quality control has slipped recently. In each loaf now there are a number of slices with such big holes they’re almost usable, see photos. I gently mentioned this to a shop assistant in the summer but she just shrugged her shoulders at me and said, “I didn’t make it!” Customer service has always been patchy at Rex. I don’t like having to resort to social media to give feedback but that response from that member of staff, plus continuing issues left me no option. I’ll keep shopping at Rex in the hopes that the quality of the Pan Gallego improves, if not I’ll go elsewhere, but I’ll be very sad to do so.

We don’t have a local bakery near us, apart from Gail’s, so when we spotted Rex in Windsor today, we decided to try something different. Wow! The sourdough bread is amazing—I had to take some away with me. It’s far better than Gail’s. I wish we had a Rex in our town! The big chain bakeries don’t even compare. The coffee was lovely too. I’ll definitely be back when I visit Windsor again. If you’re in Windsor, please support this fantastic local artisan bakery!

I visited the Rex bakery on Mother's Day Early morning. The choices and quality of Italian patisserie available are superb! We tried the cinomon bun and the mused chocolate and almond croissant. I have previously tried their delicious focaccia sandwiches at lunch time - these too have been delicious.freshly prepared Italian delights so happy to have such fine breakfast options on our doorstep! Great customer service all round!!
