Down from Essex for the second time this year visiting the Isle of Wight, and my friends & I were searching for a place for breakfast. Googling around and looking at the average review ratings, we came across Ritchie’s; saw the menu and the pictures, so thought we’d try here.
Five of us in and seated immediately. Granted it wasn’t busy but there was no panic about the size of the group for a walk-in. Ritchie was stood behind the counter with a smile on his face, ready with dad-jokes and witty humour (poor Ron Weasley).
Ritchie gave us the time we needed and made recommendations on what he thought were notable choices. I personally went for 2 poached eggs, two seeded slices of toast + bacon (paid extra), along with a Kinder Bueno ice cream shake. My partner and the other girl in the group went for American Pancakes and the other two gents had breakfast baguettes. Everyone had a milkshake.
The food was prompt and the milkshakes not far behind (these were hefty and the value-for-money was on point. So, the time taken to make them was appreciated for the art that was produced - phenomenal). The eggs were perfect, the toast buttered evenly and generously, the bacon thick and cooked deliciously.
Unbelievably, the food ordered for my partner and I came to less than £20… in this climate, that is unheard of! If I could give more than five stars, I would. This Diner is one of the very best I’ve been to and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for fantastic service with equally-levelled food.
We’ll most certainly be coming back during our next visit to the Isle of Wight. Thank you Ritchie and the team for an...
Read moreAs someone who eats regularly in cafes all over the uk, Eire, and whole of mainland Europe, Ritchies Diner ranks pretty low in my books. The decor is brilliant, the staff are very friendly, and the cafe, including the toilets are fresh and clean. I had the full breakfast with bubble. The fried egg was very nicely cooked, and most of the rest was ok. The bubble however, was dire. Like no other homemade bubble that I've ever tasted in more than 5 decades. The total price was 75% higher than London prices too. Sorry, but that's how I judge it, and as a result, I won't...
Read moreWhen we entered we were not greeted at all, ignored all staff. Menu was hard to read a on the wall and had statue covering half of it. Food was okay, hot and basic, good tiger bread. The tea was abysmal, just hot water and milk, it was served in old dirty mugs and milk already added with no questions on preference. Very tense atmosphere with what I would assume is a local who was shouting through the entirety of the visit and prevented any conversations to be held anywhere else in the cafe. Staff were polite enough but definitely will not be coming back or...
