Unfortunately I could not give a 0 star review for service which is what was deserved. I have never come across an establishment who treat their customers with utter contempt and address every negative review or complaint with sarcasm and rudeness. The days of "the customer is always right" have not fed through to this "hospitality" venue. Having previously visited on a few occasions, the first I thought the waitress was a little brusque but gave the benefit of the doubt, the following few, that waitress was not present, were satisfactory and had accommodated my allergy by swapping items on the breakfast at my request. During todays visit I again asked for the eggs to be replaced with mushrooms. Originally this was ok but then the waitress returned to say this could not be done and they would have to charge additionally for them. I politely answered that is OK I will do without as I am unwilling to pay the additional charge. The food was then brought to our table by the original brusque lady, I now know is the owner, she placed the food down and aggressively stated "you don't want the mushrooms then?" I repeated I was unwilling to pay extra for them when I had removed an item. She then sarcastically stated "do you know the prices of eggs and mushroom!" As a single mum of 4 children I am fully aware of the cost of provisions and stated yes I did know how much items cost. The menu even stated an additional portion of mushrooms was charged at the same price as an additional poached egg £1.50 (menu attached), completely negating her argument. At this point the lady aggressively picked up the plates on the table shouting "I can see you are not happy and do not want to eat this" I calmly stated at no time had I said I did not want to eat it and was quite willing to eat our food pay and leave. I would not be buying the extra cakes and would not be returning. They would be losing a spend of around £70-£80 which we were going to do on a fortnightly basis and I will be leaving a review. Her response being "I bet you will" in utter contempt that customers may have a complaint with her. She proceeded to remove the food stating "I am refusing to serve you and demand that you leave." Actions that triggered my daughter's anxiety. This establishment is OK as long as you have no cause to complain! BEWARE of the positive reviews as I had previously given one. It is easy to give a good review if their are no issues. There are no reviews stating any problems were addressed in a professional manner and customers are happy with how the owner deals with...
Read moreWent here with my mum, my sister and her boyfriend. My mum has an intolerance to eggs and asked kindly if they could swap the eggs on her breakfast for mushrooms (as they had done so 2 weeks earlier so we assumed it wouldn't be a problem again). The waitress returned and said they would be added on at an extra charge they couldn't be directly swapped (even though on the menu shown in the image, which is the same one we were presented with, both eggs and mushrooms as extras are priced the same at £1.50). Mum said that was okay and she would go without. We then quietly waited for our food and as it was brought out the lady very abruptly asked mum "did you want the mushrooms or not?" mum replied as she had before that she didn't feel comfortable paying extra for the mushrooms when she didn't have to the last time she visited. the lady then rudely asked "well do you know the price of eggs and mushrooms then?" she then walked away to get the rest of the food leaving us nothing shy of gobsmacked. Half way back to the kitchen she turned around and came back stating very aggressively "you clearly are angry about eating here and don't want to stay" we were left confused as we had never said this and were quite happy to eat and leave bearing in mind the way some things were done, but my food was then picked up from in front of me with being told "I'm refusing to serve you, you need to leave" and essentially kicked us out of the coffee shop. I left visibly shaking as the unexpected confrontation triggered an anxiety response. having looked, any reviews that crictise the establishment recieve a sarcastic and belittling response from the owner which is not only unprofessional but reflects awfully on their cafe. highly recommend avoiding this one...
Read moreI cannot recommend this place enough. We rang up today (11:20am) last minute, hoping to get a table at 12 o’clock. There was 2 of us, and a pushchair. They moved things around to fit us in for brunch/ early lunch. I ordered a tuna mayo sandwich with fries and my mum poached eggs on toast. The quality of ingredients shows. The bread was so tasty and soft on my sandwich, with a huge amount of filling, tasty side salad and gorgeous homemade coleslaw! I underestimated the generous portion and even took half the of my sandwich home! My mums poached eggs were cooked to perfection. Really gooey and just how they should be! Serviced on beautiful sourdough bread. Great selection on the menu and drinks also. The choice of cakes and sweet treats were also amazing! I was full but still took 2 of the milky bar flapjacks home - which were the tastiest flapjack I have had in a long time! Service is also 10/10 - staff very friendly and cannot do enough for you. Very pushchair accessible too. Stylish, welcoming and overall lovely place to visit....
