It's been a while since I've added a review, and this one is not to be missed. The vegetarian and I had ventured over to Wendover. A small village we had walked around in the Summer months on a Spy trail 😉. We wanted a mid morning hot drink and perhaps a naughty snack and we happened upon Rumsey's. On entering, fully masked up of course, we were greeted with a counter full of chocolate goodness. There are 3 tables downstairs and 5 upstairs, which you get to via a steep set of stairs (not suitable for those not able bodied). The toilets are downstairs. There are also 3 large tables outside, weather permitting. We settled in and were handed our menus so started perusing. The options were pretty wide, from pastries to cake and chocolate fondue. I went for a pot of tea, pain at raisin and I just had to have the cinnamon dusted churros with choice of milk, dark or white liquid chocolate. The vegetarian had a cinnamon Danish and a Hot Chocolate with a shot of Bailey's. I am told it is delicious. If I had one question mark I thought the hot chocolate could've been a bigger serving for the price. All in all though, we'll worth a visit. A final word on the staff. All were excellent.

First time visiting this cafe, not really sure what to make of it, it's quite small inside and has a mezzanine floor with about 3 more tables. The stairs are steep. Unfortunately this means as you walk up you can see all the dirt on the carpet which isn't very appealing! Hot chocolates were nice- our party tried both classic and the espresso sized Italian thick style, very decadent and went well with the churros. The chocolates look lovely and they do classes which looks fun to do. Staff were pleasant once they acknowledged you but the menus were all sticky and the table wasnt wiped over so the cleanliness impression doesn't make me want to rush back sorry! I bet it's great in summer for ice cream and milkshakes

This is a lovely place and you can see the chocolatier making each product. It has it charm and quite lively at time. This chocolate cake was nice and moist, it is good to serve with a good balance ice cream. You know this is made by a chocolatier and made with passion. However, this place only deserve 3 stars because I think the staff can be more proactive. As I walked to the door, I have no idea whether do you have to sit down and they come to you or order at the till. I have to wait quite a while before being served. The staff tried to avoid my eye contact. Although the staff are nice and friendly when they come around. Overall, I still recommend this place as the cake and ice cream was delicious.

Just popped in to Rumsey’s Chocolaterie in Wendover and was hoping to sit in and enjoy a hot drink and some chocolate. We’d never been in there before, so was looking forward to it. But after less than 5 mins in there, we couldn’t wait to leave purely because of the appalling customer service by the young girl who ‘served’ us. It was busy in there, and the few tables they had were all taken downstairs. After asking if we could sit in the upstairs seating area which was closed off (at only 3pm - when they close at 5pm! - and with lots of customers walking in and also wanting a table) we were given a very rude and abrupt one word answer / “NO” when we asked if we could sit upstairs, with no explanation or reason when new customers were still coming in also wanting a table. We were planning on staying and spending our money in the Chocolaterie to support this local business, but immediately decided to take our business elsewhere when we were confronted with such appalling customer service. So instead we went to The Red Lion Pub / Hotel over the road, where the customer service has been exceptional and we were made to feel welcome as customers rather than a problem or a nuisance. Therefore, would never recommend the Chocolaterie until the staff are properly trained in delivering good customer service. It’s not all just about the chocolate! Reading some of the other reviews listed, it appears that the management may need training too as the staff seem to have adopted this terrible approach to...

After having the most delicious coffee on Sunday we went back on Monday for more. Sadly the coffee we had on Monday was as far removed from Sundays as is possible. A very nice young lady kindly declined payment and wondered what the difference was. Not wishing to embarrass myself or anyone else I left without an explanation. Well here goes, after years and years of selling coffee I knew exactly what was wrong. The person making it had reused milk already steamed, they had tried to re steam the milk and it had collapsed. Then overheated it to try get it back, which made it worse. It won’t ever come back once steamed. Hence bad results. The texture is gone the taste is altered, the coffee ruined. The crème non existent. I would recommend a coffee course at Butlers Wharf or elsewhere if found for trainees. We will return hoping that it will be as good as it was. Not the end of the world I know but when charging top buck for a product it should be right. By the way the chocolate buttons are to die for. Kind...
