What a little gem . Thought I would go back to my old school and so glad that it has been saved and not been made into homes . It is a lovely tea room with fabulous staff who are very friendly most are volunteers from the village . The menu was so impressive with the variety of a breakfast, lite lunch, sandwiches, homemade produce and takeaway. A strong cup of tea served in a China cup has my nanna would say the best . My hubby had a good sausage and onion bap ( so good he had two ). The food is locally sourced helping small businesses in the area. The village has to be proud of these people who give their time up and thank you for a great service you all do for your community and anyone who are visiting. Read moreWe just love this village cafe! We have been about 5 times now and never been disappointed. We are not local but now always make sure we call in when we are up this neck of the woods.
It has such a lovely atmosphere! It's like a cosy village hall. Spotlessly clean and the ladies running it are so welcoming whether you are a local or a visitor. Talking about locals there were plenty of locals in using the cafe which is always a good sign!
We had a flat white, latte, coffee cake ( I always do and can highly recommend it!!) and a raspberry frangipane. All delicious! There is a real cross section of food on the menu from a bacon or sausage butty to Bhudda's Bowl! And lots of cakes and scones to chose from.
Lovely little gift shop at the back with locally made goods.
Check the opening times and just be aware that they are not open on a Saturday.
Would I recommend here?...
Read moreWe visit this wonderful cafe frequently, but would not normally opt for an afternoon tea. As Sarah, the baker, and wonderful catering staff were putting on a Christmas afternoon tea and a Vegan option was offered us, we were tempted to sample it.
Wow! It was so very delicious! The room was decorated for Christmas, the tables beautifully laid out with divinely embroidered centre mat (created specially for the event) and a fun Christmassy artefact to take away. Christmas music playing and everyone enjoying their lunch.
Why travel to Greenland, Lapland when you can go to Hinderwell Old School Tea Room & Village Hub for a delicious afternoon tea.
My only criticism….. they should have charged more as I doubt they made much profit. Incredibly good...
