I remember in my early childhood, going back 25 years ago now. Their Ice Cream used to be amazing, you could get sprinkles, flakes, raspberry sauce and other things I can't remember. Now...all you can get is a flake. The Ice Cream is good but these days it doesn't warrant a visit all the way to Great Ayton for something you can get different varieties of from a tub of Carte Dor. What a shame they have let this icon be remembered only in the childhood minds of us old enough to remember it.

Lovely ice cream, reasonably priced. Good selection of pick and mix, however nearly everything is priced individually and not by the 100g like nearly everywhere else I've been. As a result the individual items can be particularly expensive. Two medium ice creams, and the sweets pictured came to ÂŁ4.33. Worth going for the ice cream and a walk opposite the road along side the river/small waterfall.

I haven't been here since I was a child and it was totally unchanged except the cafe was closed. The sweet shop and the taste of the ice cream was just as I remembered. We sat near the waterfall opposite the shop in the shade. The staff were friendly and patient despite the queue. It was a lovely trip down memory lane.

Incredibly rude customer service. Went today for the first time ever, queued to get in patiently. Had a browse in a basket of chocolates for sale by till when the older lady behind the till rudely shouted at me “ you are in the exit, you’re standing in the wrong place” so I just explained I was browsing when she retorted “well you’ll just have to wait until you get to the front of the queue to browse” in an necessarily brisk, rude manner. I was so shocked at how horribly she had spoken to me I almost walked out! I find it hard to give people my hard earned cash when they speak to me like a piece of rubbish. Had I not been with a small child I would’ve left. It doesn’t take much to be polite. The lady could’ve simply said sorry to be a pain but if you wouldn’t mind moving to one side, or waiting till the front of the queue to have a look, I’d appreciate that, as it is a small store. I would’ve said of course no problem. Unfortunately she had a very negative defensive attitude, continued to shout about how I was in the exit and clearly expected me to know this despite it being my first ever visit! Such a shame this horrible customer service had to spoil our visit and first impression, as it was wholly avoidable and...

Suggitts ice cream is the best ice cream in the world. Just to clarify Suggitts is not a ice cream parlor it is a traditional sweet shop that sells their own traditional ice cream. Anyone reading these reviews please diss miss any reviews that say otherwise. I have been going to Suggitts since I was 1 year old my whole family the same. I am now 53 years old I go every sunday when I can if you want a selection of ice creams please don't go then give a rubbish review because you can't get what you want. Anyone who hasn't been try it you might like it you might not but please be sensible when reviewing this shop that has been there for years and has a loyal customer base. Prices are very sensible also regarding the cafe if you want a mocha choca sugar induced high go to one of the mickey mouse...

Imagine your favourite childhood ice cream shop has been taken over by members of the Gestapo...

Well that’s what greets you upon entering Suggitt’s today. The leader of this ‘Neo fascist sweat shop experience’ is an elderly blonde lady. Imagine a rude, grumpy aryan, bestowing judgement and occasionally ice cream to small children and bemused parents and you get the idea. You leave wondering what you have done to offend this lady and why she doesn’t choose a more fitting vocation like asset liquidation or Dickensian prison warden.

...However the Ice cream is amazing and they have a fantastic selection of traditional sweets which I love. I will of course be going back when next I feel the urge to be belittled or a compulsion for social flagellation. Long love the...
