Went for a Sunday carvery yesterday, and I don't know where to start with how bad the food is. I think they were recently taken over by new management and it's really gone down hill. Not only is it pretty dirty in there these days, the food is utterly repulsive. The veg was insane, the broccoli and cabbage was yellow and brown, as someone that has worked in the food industry for many years, I can tell you now the chef used old rotten veg in with a few bits of fresh veg to help disguise the state of the rest. The Yorkshire puds were not only cold but not fully cooked, the bottoms already mushy before adding any gravy. The meat portion wasn't even one full slice and it was dry, overcooked and the meat my mother had was all grisle and fat. I couldn't even eat most of it. When we asked, they said it had been out only for 40 minutes, but both the meat and veg would've been rotten before they cooked it. Adding another 40mins sat out there, it was a recipe for food poisoning. Ironically my mum, the only one of us to try and eat it because she didn't want to make a fuss, ended up being sick for 5 hours last night. But then we get to the customer service. When we enquired about it, they literally could've offered us a plate of fresh veg or a voucher of some kind. Hilariously they changed the veg almost immediately after my complaints so they absolutely knew it was dodgy. But when we tried to speak to them about it, they became incredibly rude and wouldn't even listen to us. With respect, you're a small pub in a very small town, the fact the pub has had so many owners over the last few years says you can't make your money up. Few enough people go to it already, you really can't afford to be so losing good loyal customers. Wouldn't go back if you paid me. Shouldn't worry though folks, it'll be taken over by more competent people...
Read moreWe used this venue for the very first time after we had finished our shopping, we were very impressed by the excellent layout and friendly staff. We ordered our food from the menu, standard fish and Chips for me and hunters Chicken for my wife. The food was very well presented and piping hot when it arrived but unfortunately when I cut into the batter of the fish it was very rubbery. When this was pointed out to Tilly the restaurant staff she was fantastic and delt so professionally well with a delicate situation, I was then able to change my order and enjoyed a super meal; further more and totally unexpected, when I went to pay for our food and drink she refused to charge me for my meal. Well done to the Swans, totally recommended for your superb service and for your professional understanding on how to deal with a difficult situation. A special thanks to Tilly, you are a credit...
Read moreMet up with friends to have a Christmas lunch first time since it has changed hands not impressed at all annoyed I didn't take any photos we laughed when the prawn cocktail came out served in small rectangular enamel pie dishes on a large plate with 2 triangle white bread and butter the turkey dinner was not pleasant turkey was dry vegetables was nothing to shout about and parsnips were so shrivelled you could not cut them and the sticky toffee pudding was like a chocolate cake with bits of caramel on top and toffee sauce with ice-cream which was the best bit of the desert. We did get asked at the end by the landlady if everything was OK and we told her we were not impressed and turkey was dry etc our pet dogs were having it she didn't seem that interested about our complaints. We all used to be regulars when Fran and Chris were at the swan and meals...
