Hark! Let it be known unto all folk that the Monmouth Ash be a most worthy house of mirth and merriment, a veritable haven for those who do seek good cheer and strong ale. In sooth, we did gather there for a celebration of leaving, and found the place well-fitted for such revels. The victuals were of excellent quality—fit for a lord’s table—even though a misfortune did befall us, as a serving-knave did, by mishap, spill a pot of red sauce (called "ketchup" by the common folk) upon one’s jacket. Yet even this folly could not sour the joy of the evening. The beers flowed plentiful and were of fine craft, making glad the hearts of all who partook. And lo! A band of minstrels did play most wondrous tunes, their music lifting spirits high and setting feet to tapping. Truly, 'twas a night to remember. I commend the Monmouth Ash to any who seek mirth, music, and meat, though perchance beware the saucy perils of the serving-folk. Verily recommended.

I’ve just returned from my Hen weekend in the area, we were staying on a local glamping site and then walked to the Monmouth Ash for some lunch. Our lunch was excellent and the service was fantastic, I was even presented with a bunch of flowers from the pub which was completely unexpected and a really lovely touch! All of the staff were friendly and attentive and everything ran smoothly for our very large table of 15. I personally also appreciated the decent range of beers and ales on offer 🍻

Came here for a wake and is very disappointing. The orange squash was so weak even after it was sent back to the kitchen. I'm convinced nobody tasted it to make sure it was strong enough for the guests. The prawn cocktail sandwich had no Marie sauce I could spot. There was no Vegan options for half our party and the hot water ran out on the drinks and had to wait 20 mins for some more just to get my first drink! Food was otherwise medeochre and uninspiring so can't recommend this venue.

Service was lacking due to not enough staff. Food was disappointing too, lamb medallions a bit dry and lacked seasoning, same for Dauphinoise. Lamb Tegine lacked flavour and portioned to small plus served in a bowl with no option of a spoon just knife and fork.

Desserts black forest sundae had asked to have no cherries yet came with a very potent cherry sauce( pre made desserts) Panna Cotta and caramilised walnuts, sugar was slightly burnt and potion size was far to small for the price ( again pre made).

Service from start was poor, drinks glasses never removed from table and on two occasions staff neglected to clear our plates away after asking another table if things were ok, waited 10 mins before having them cleared. All in all not a horrible experience but will not be returning.

Pros. Excellent place to drinks and meet friends. Cons. Poor service and no wow...

Our second visit to the Monmouth Ash for Sunday Lunch.... A lovely friendly welcome and straight to our reserved table. The drinks selection is good with local draught ales. The menu had a good selection of dishes, including vegetarian options. Roast, soup and pie of the day were all explained. 3 of our party wanted veg with no butter or cheese and this was catered for. The roast beef was served rare, which didn't suit one of the party and this was replaced very quickly with a friendly smile and no fuss. The portions are substantial, with a small meal available for those who don't have a big appetite. 4 of us had enough room for dessert, but only just. There was a good selection, with small tasters of 3 of them available. All were delicious with much sharing around the table. A great family friendly pub with great food and friendly,...
