The Birdcage — Restaurant in England

Wouldn't really recommend. We where told to just pick a seat and the waitress would be over soon. She then gave us one drinks menu between 3. The menu was unclean and pages stuck together from previous drinks being spilled on it.

When the afternoon tea arrived we weren't given a menu or asked if we had any preferences (vegetarian/allergies etc). We were not given a menu with what was on the afternoon tea so had to try to memorise what the waitress said. We were given one plate and one set of cutlery so had to wipe down out plates etc after our savoury part.

The finger sandwiches where very basic and what looked like wafer ham from a packet with the edges of the bread being dried up as If they had been sat all day. We where then give a fruit scone and a plain scone... no other savory option. The cakes where basic and not handmade. We where given a meringue out of a box with whipped cream. A red slice of red velvet cake which looked like it could have been from tesco and half a slice of brownie which was hard.

Over all very disappointing. We feel like we could have done this at home for half the price. Just not what we expected from somewhere as upmarket as the...

We had been wanting to try here for a while so were excited to book. We booked for a Sunday evening and ticked online we wanted the full menu not the Sunday dinner menu. When we arrived the place was empty apart from one other couple - there were no staff on the floor. After a while a girl appeared from the kitchen and told us to sit where ever and gave us the Sunday dinner menu. We said we wanted the normal menu and she replied that she was not sure what they actually had from this menu. We asked her to point out what was unavailable - she pointed out about five dishes and we said ok there are other things we could have. A different girl came over to take our drinks order -we ordered cocktails to which the response was not sure if we are doing cocktails tonight! She went into kitchen, came back out whispered to other girl and then they both disappeared into kitchen again. Not much choice of food and no cocktails - pointless even going so we got up and walked out. Such a bad impression - not tried any food or drink but after such bad service we will not be giving it another chance. So disappointing after expecting...

the two girls who was serving us left the room unattended just to change their hair in the what looked like the kitchen. when we requested for the bill we got given it but then the waiter proceeded to go into the kitchen area ? Not to mention we waited 40 minutes for 3 plates even though we was the only people there . the food was nice but not amazing .Will not be coming here again .- Gracie.

The food was lovely but the staff left the room unattended. The two girls changed their hair. We waited for 40 minutes for our food and were the people in there it was a sunday so we expected the food to already be ready . When we asked for the bill we received it but she went into the kitchen area and didn’t come out for a while .They ran in and out of the kitchen while we were waiting for our food .They wouldn’t stop talking and just stood there instead of doing their job .if you are coming for food make sure you have time in your day to wait because we had to .We will definitely not be coming back at...
