We decided to visit Haltwhistle on our third day of walking Hadrian's Wall Path. It was a slightly miserable afternoon of weather and we decided to seek the warmth and comfort of a pub. Upon arriving at the Black Bull we were greeted by the landlord, Martin, who welcomed us in to the pub. The log fire was roaring and there was a nice selection of drinks on tap. My partner and I both ordered vegetarian lasagne and home made chips and it was absolutely delicious! We missed the last bus back to our campsite at the top of the hill, and as we were both shattered and had bags of shopping with us, Martin, very kindly gave us (and our dog) a lift back when we had finished our drinks...what an absolute gentleman! A great pub with a friendly atmosphere. If ever you're in Haltwhistle you should definitely visit here for a drink and some food!

A great traditional pub in the heart of Haltwhistle, with an open fire and friendly atmosphere. The home made food was fantastic and very reasonably priced. The staff were amazing and Martin, the landlord, was extremely helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend and we'll be back again soon. .

Cute traditional British pub with great drinks and ambiance. Unfortunately, they had run out of food the evening we were there.

A brilliant pub in so many ways :- Friendly, attentive staff (2 young females) who worked hard to ensure that customers were served quickly and efficiently (and they made time to give my black labrador some treats) Delicious food - we enjoyed steak pie, surf, & turf and Cumberland sausage all of which were reasonably priced. (Thank you chef) Excellent hand-pulled ales. The Hawkshesd red was superb. The selection of wines was also very good. Friendly locals - the atmosphere in the pub was warm and friendly and everyone was enjoying themselves. The Black Bull is out of the top drawer of great, traditional pubs and is conveniently loacated near to Hadrian's Wall. We will certainly be returning in the future. Well done to...
