A proper pub for once! Full of character and characters! Lovely open fire in a 'snug' at the back of the bar. Childrens rooms off to one side and the proper bar the other. As for the Spingo, well, I'm not sure anything I say here can do it justice....the middle is their 'session' beer at 5% - it drinks like a session beer too which is dangerous! The specials are just that, SPECIAL, but beware, they are strong! starting at 6.5% for the special, then for certain celebrations they will brew some 'Extra Specials' which are usually in excess of 7%. All are exceedingly drinkable but seriously strong! On a sunny day, you enter into the darkness (an essential pub quality in my opinion!) wait for your eyes to adjust and have a couple of Spingo's, then when you walk out, you're squinting hard - partly because of the transition between inside and out, but mainly because of alcohol driven...

we were doing the coastal path from Falmouth we thought to visit Helston and then back to the coastal path, before reach the town started to rain a lot and we decided to book a room anywhere (we ussualy camp with our tent), we booked a room in "The Angel" and when we arrived 22.30pm was close, without a call or any warning, a local guy in a pub close by help us calling the " Blue Anchor" and sending us there, the landlady welcome us so late, about 12am with a very friendly attitude, show us the room and the garden where we smoke a cig. before go bed, next day we got a wondeful breakfast before depart, the room was very good for us and the house was beautiful, the price is very cheap comparing to other places we been and they were not as good at...

What can I say? My favourite pub in Cornwall and possibly the world. I do not exaggerate. Ancient, thatched, full of interesting nooks and crannies and even more interesting locals - I've never been here and not had a good chat. Then there's Spingo. Oh my. Brewed on the premises and, I swear, like no other ale. It has magical properties. Great live music and the bus stops right outside, so you don't even have to drive there, and it's in Cornwall. What more could you...

You must visit this pub! One of the most beautiful & interesting historic pubs I've visited in UK: cosy multiple indoor rooms with wood paneling, large outdoor space with covered and uncovered areas. Independent brewery on site making delicious traditional beers. Doesn't serve hot food but in daytime you can bring in a sandwich, pasty or other snack from nearby Tinners bakery. Friendly staff, good coronavirus safety measures.

This pub is unique. The front door goes straight into a granite alleyway with 2 snugs on 1 side and 2 bar rooms on the other. Is outside seating in a nicely set out marquee or past this on a patio. The famous Spingo beer is brewed here , but does have others too. Always feels a friendly pub with live music. Xx

Reputation of this pub is well deserved. The welcoming, the beer testing before buying, the locals, the history. Wow the history to this pub blows your mind!!! The decor is wonderful, like walking back in history. The pub is big too, lots of snugs to get lost in 😊💕
