Went to Boat Shed Cafe with my partner and two children today. It quickly became apparent what a mistake we had made. THE STAFF IN THIS PLACE ARE USELESS!!! Ordered two full English breakfasts, a veg breakfast and a sausage sandwich plus drinks. The place was ticking over with customers but not exactly queueing out the door but it took (I kid you not!) over 20 minutes for the useless woman and young bloke to make us two teas! The woman in particular behind the counter did not look like she had a clue what to do. I mean, over 20 minutes to make us two teas!? What's that all about? And if you think that's bad, when our food eventually came over, they'd totally missed out one of our orders (veg breakfast) so I got nothing. When we pointed it out to the young bloke bringing the food he kind of shrugged his shoulders pretty unsympathetically as if it was our fault. Bearing in mind how long it had taken them to even remember we were in the place his offer to make it for us was refused seeing as I don't have the desire to die of old age in that place... As I say, it wasn't even particularly busy at that time but his excuse that they were short staffed is not really my problem is it? The only positive to note is that the view across the bay is quite lovely and the breakfasts, when they actually came, were pretty good. Although I have to trust the rest of my family on this BECAUSE MY FOOD NEVER ARRIVED. In short, nice views, food not bad but touch and go as to whether you'll get everything you ordered. Oh, and make sure you put plenty of money in the expensive car park ticket machine because even if you just want a cup of tea, you'll be waiting a loooooong time! SERVICE HERE...
Read moreWe visited this unassuming cafe on the waterfront at the magical Ludworth Cove. Small but perfectly formed seafood menu, so we all got something different, and each of my party of four were blown away with the freshness and flavour of what was delivered....but I came out triumphant with, ( and I not given to hyperbole) the best fish chowder that I have had in the uk.
Creamy silky, generous amounts of smoked haddock; baby squid and prwans, and four slices of fresh bread.By time I finished eating the chowder savouring each mouthful, I knew that although although live many miles away, I would be travelling back to this place in the future just to have this fish chowder. I kid you not this is the first time I have been given to write a review for any restaurant / cafe / eatery of any kind but it was that good I felt compelled to show my appreciation by...
Read moreHad a really positive experience in this lovely café this afternoon. I arrived with my family (who were determined to go beachcombing despite the chill!) and wanted to sit in the warm having a coffee - despite the fact they were closing up the staff were very friendly, happy to make me a coffee, and have a nice chat as they closed up the café. The lady who served me couldn't have been friendlier or more accommodating - even gave my son some bread to feed Mr and Mrs duck who were loitering with intent outside the cafe!
Coffee was good too - and I'm a picky coffee drinker.
The interior is cosy and well kept, and so welcoming. Perfect views over the cove, right on the beach. Thank you for a lovely relaxing...
