Had a lovely visit to the Lulworth Cove Inn! We stayed in room 1 (superior double room) and was so pleasantly surprised!
Bedroom:
Incredibly spacious, beautifully decorated, the most comfortable bed ever and the rolltop bath was a really nice touch! I loved the vast selection of teas, coffees and hot chocolates that were available in the room (and topped up as part of the housekeeping service). There was a couple of travellers tales too, which I think is a really nice personal touch. There is free WiFi at the hotel, which was pretty reliable, plus a Samsung smart TV! The TV had netflix and other apps on, although there was a technical issue with the TV and Netflix would not work, but didn't really mind as we didn't plan on spending too much time binge watching anything whilst away!
The only slight faults I could think of was that there was no fan in the room, which was a bit of a pain as it was really quite warm (but was manageable!). Also, the daily housekeeping service was seemed a bit half-hearted- didn't give us fresh bedding or towels, just seemed to give us more tea, water and gave the bathroom a quick clean. We wasn't staying long so though so wasn't really an issue. Restaurant:
The restaurant itself is very cosy and nicely decorated (the same nautical theme as the bedrooms), with a real intimate feel in the evening. It's dog friendly, which is expected in a walking area, although I personally didn't feel too comfortable with dogs being around whilst I was eating, not did my partner but you can't please everyone!
Breakfast was included with the price and it really was amazing! There's a continental buffet selection, which was quite vast: lots of fresh fruits, pastries, fruit juices, cereals etc, with free filter coffee and tea. You could also order a cooked breakfast (included in the price), which again was quite vast. I had the poached eggs one morning and scrambled eggs with bacon another-both were beautiful! Breakfast is only served to hotel guests, so it isn't very busy at all and service is quick.
We ate at the restaurant two evenings in a row. I personally wasn't that fond of the menu selection but this is down to personal taste. One thing I didn't like was the fact the specials were exactly the same two days in a row, but not a big issue. The food itself was beautifully cooked and I thoroughly enjoyed it. There doesn't seem to be much choice in terms of restaurants in the immediate area so it's a good job the Inn's restaurant is a good place to eat otherwise you'd struggle.
General:
I can't stress enough how friendly certain members of staff were (I didn't get any specific names), they were very welcoming, accomodating and genuinely seemed to like working there, which was really nice. The price we paid for the room was incredibly expensive although I imagine this is in line with the other hotels in the area, plus breakfast was included. Saying that, I'm still slightly unconvinced that it was good value for money and would expect a little bit more for the price. If you're planning on visiting Lulworth Cove I would definitely recommend the Lulworth Cove Inn. There are only 12 rooms so I imagine they get booked up...
Read moreEdit to review The manager (Benjamin) contacted me directly and was very kind and apologetic so I have decided to alter my overall rating of Lulworth Cove Inn to reflect the initial service received and the quality of the food. Thank you to Benjamin for contacting me, I very much appreciate it.
Had a meal here tonight with my boyfriend, firstly I must say the food was lovely and the location is amazing however the service is absolutely awful.
Initially the service was good and a lady with long blonde hair and a lady with long brown hair were very efficient, taking our orders and bringing the food very quickly which was lovely.
However, things went rapidly downhill when there was a shift change. After we finished our main meal, we were left waiting for the table to be cleared and offered desserts for 30 minutes. I had to ask one of the other servers who had come on shift (a lady with short, dark, curly hair) if we could look at the dessert menu, she wasn't helpful at all, walked off and was cleaning other tables and came across that she didn't want to serve us at all so did every other job other than clearing our table and bringing the dessert menus (waited about 10 minutes for the menus - given 1 dessert menu and a child's menu???)
Eventually the main meal plates were cleared but ended up waiting again to place the dessert order for about 20 minutes so went up to the servers station and ordered. This lady then made a point of coming over to the table and saying "oh I'm glad you ordered with my colleague because we are very busy". The restaurant itself had several empty tables and this felt like a dig. Whilst we were waiting for the desserts to arrive she also came over and put down on our table the reservation sign for the next people who had booked and said "oh I know you won't probably be here in an hour but I have to put this here". I feel this is beyond rude, surely this could have been done after we had left?!
Then to cap it all, asked for the bill, they put a 10% service charge onto the bill. After this service , I asked the gentleman (long, fair hair) who took payment if this could be taken off. He blankly looked at me, said okay, took my payment, no thank you, no offer of a receipt and no question as to why I wanted this service charge removed and just walked off.
Even as we left the restaurant, my boyfriend moved aside to let the same gentleman waiter walk through and he never said thank you then either.
It's such a shame because the food is lovely, the location is great and the initial staff members were brilliant. I'm really disgusted with the service received by the latter two waiters and would never recommend...
Read moreCame for Sunday lunch as I had a great lunch her a few years ago and knowing we were returning for a day out I was excited to eat here again.|I honestly wish I had tried somewhere else.|Booked ahead and got table quickly when arrived. |The tall blonde young waitress who was serving our table was lovely very smiley and friendly. Five stars to her.|Unfortunately they had no Pork left at 2pm. So I ordered the beef. Extremely disappointed and very very overpriced for what you get. I honestly was shocked. The peas and red cabbage looked very old and shrivelled. There was three peas to which I commented, light heartedly to another girl who brought the plates over "do I only get three peas" she commented back "there under the meat". So I now have 9 shriveled peas and cabbage. The roast potatoes out of three, one was old and rock solid, another was about the size of a Brussels sprout in half and one tasty. |A male water came over and I mentioned to him is this normal for £22. And he said "what do you want". "Do you want more peas" This took me aback a little and I just answered yes please. The second girl returned with a fresh bowl of veg which look colourful and tasty. Nothing like the shrivelled veg on the plate. When she put them down she rudely said "there you go if you'd asked politely". I was shocked and so was the first waitress. |I'm grateful they they brought out fresh veg but this experience was terrible for the premium price. Your paying for location not a quality product. |Thankyou to the polite friendly blonde waitress you were an asset but definitely would not return or recommend anymore.|I have two photos which hopefully show the pitiful state of the lunch we were served for over £22 (I had pulled the veg from under the lukewarm beef) and the second they fresh veg in the bowl. Fair it doesn't have gravy on it but wow the difference in quality is ridiculous.||Oh and the gravy well let's...
