Revisited this pub last night after a previous visit in March 2025, we booked and good job we did, it was really busy. Parking a bit difficult, we had to park on the pavement opposite the pub, near the railway station, I thought I might get a ticket but obviously the wardens don't work in the evening. No car park available, some on road parking but not much. Dog friendly, staff very friendly and welcoming, we ordered the beef Lasagne, which was really tasty, in a tomato sauce, and the pie of the day, which was chicken and mushroom, fries, and mushy peas with a jug of gravy. Several specials were also available from the board, and the menu was okay but a bit expensive. The quality of the food was excellent, especially the beef Lasagne, the chicken and mushroom pie was also packed with chicken, however the portion size was not enough, the gravy saved it but for the money I felt the portion size should have been bigger, obviously homemade and very well cooked the pastry was melt in the mouth, such a shame about the quantities. Excellent pint of Timothy Taylors Landlord bitter, and Chardonnay was also good.

Very nice country pub, reopened Octiber 2022 with new management. Great food and friendly staff. Children and dog friendly with a beer garden/outside deck. The Bridge Inn may get it's name from the road bridge which replaced a tidal ford many years ago, but the real treat is the iron railway bridge close to the beer garden. I had great fun waving at the passengers on one of the steam trains - a "railway children" moment for me! I had Whitby Scampi with home cut chips salad and homemade coleslaw, the Scampi was cooked to perfection, crisp outside but moist and recognisable Scampi on the inside, the chips were excellent, like the best home made ones I've ever had. Others had Veg Lasagne again with those great home chips salad coleslaw and a couple of slices of garlic bread, also the burger (double), fries, coleslaw, salad and check out the onion rings! All together this is a great spot, lots of walks round about in the Esk Valley and this would be a great refreshment stop. Throughly recommended, food was being served 12:00 to 20:00 when we were there.

A great family run pub that certainly satisfied our stomachs with one of the best Sunday roast dinners my wife and I have had for a very long time. First good point was that we rang them at 5.20pm (on Sunday 7 July 2024) to ask if they were still serving food, the friendly lady said "Yes, up to 6 o'clock" and they had the full range of meats too. So, putting our skates on we drove from our High Normanby camp site to the pub in Ruswarp, and made it 20 minutes later. We had the beef & lamb roast dinners, and, as said above, can honestly say they were absolutely delicious, just like proper home cooking, complete with a separate bowl of leek & cheese sauce. Meat was beautifully tender too. And to top that my wife and I had a pudding each - jam Roly poly and pineapple upside down sponge pudding, both served with an ample jug of custard. Couldn't fault it at all. Even the pub itself is very dog friendly. Great atmosphere. If you're staying nearby, or even within a 10 mile radius, I'd highly recommend you travel to this gem of a pub. You will not be disappointed 😀👍

Absolutely appalled by the way we were treated here.

When we arrived we were not encouraged to do the track & trace QR code and the QR code was not very easy to access. It was located next to table of guests so I got up from my seat without my mask (completely my own fault) and a guy from behind the bar made a rude comment. What he didn't realise was I am exempt from wearing a mask as I have many health conditions.. however I do wear one in public places. There was no need to make a rude comment, a simple reminder would have been completely acceptable & appreciated.

We then witness him take off his mask and talk to the regulars (who had removed their masks). After a couple of minutes he then began to lean over the bar and continued talking to them (less than a metre in distance). If this wasn't frustrating enough a man was allowed to stand up at the bar without a mask on and was not politely asked to sit down for table service.

We were very disappointed as we visited here before when staying at a local hotel and was told they were lovely. This time we stayed at the same hotel and thought we'd pop in, what a shame. Will not...
