Hamworthy Park Cafe is lovely. Set in THE most beautiful park in the world - I admit I'm biased as it's where I spent a great deal of my childhood. It's where I learnt to swim, row a dinghy, fish and enjoy all that.a safe beach inside Poole Harbour, a short distance from Brownsea Island and the pearls (other islands) which make up the harbour. Back to the café: When I was young, this place only offered ice cream and luke warm soft drinks. Now you can have a meal - simply cooked and reasonably priced. You can even have a glass of wine as it's licenced! Don't expect á la carter - but do expect nicely cooked meals suitable for a day at Hamworthy Park. The ubiquitous burger, fish and chips, wraps, sandwiches (toasted or otherwise), baked potatoes - you know the score. Enjoy a range of hot drinks, or soups. The staff are friendly, approachable and efficient so you won't be waiting long. You get what you order. I have to congratulate Poole Council for their efforts. You can even book the place for a kids party. This place is a wonderful asset to the park which is responsible for so much of my outdoor life whilst growing up. It's just ashame Poole Council have not upgraded the public toilets which are part of the café building. Perhaps they will, and then Hamworthy Park will be perfect. The park is a locals park. I'm sure "grockles" visit it nowadays. It is a huge asset to Hamworthy and I'm so happy that the café has moved with the times. FIVE...
Read moreLovely place to enjoy a meal - Lots of variety on offer - simple honest food, cooked by the chef. Hamworthy Park is a place for locals. The Park Cafe doesn't promise Cordon-Bleu, so don't expect it. Expect something with chips, but don't forget this place is licensed (if you're not driving). Food is cheap, but lovingly cooked. Staff are friendly but not constantly on 'your case". This is a family-friendly café, offering grub for those looking for a bite to eat at a good price. If all you want is a coffee and a piece of chocolate, that's fine. Seating is available too. As a person who lived in Hamworthy up until a few years ago, expect me to be a little biased. You wouldn't have Sunday Lunch here, but if you don't have a beach hut, but would like something to eat/drink having dipped your toes in the water, or pushed your child(ren) on the swings and fancy something to eat, you can't get better...
Read moreI left my friend to watch 3 toddlers, 2 older children and 1 newborn so I could 'quickly' order 1 portion of french fries to take away. Waited a long time but I thought I'd give them the benefit of the doubt as it was a hot day and there were lots of people in the park. Signs were outside saying to be patient in busy periods, there were 3 lots of people sat outside eating with some inside but not what I would call busy by any stretch. Seemed to be about 3 members of staff that I could see. My friend called to say her car park was about to run out so I was going to request a refund. In the end I wanted 20 minutes before I finally asked what was going on, the lady said they were 'just putting them in the box now, do you want them or not.' if it weren't for my frustrated children I would have refused to take them. I received a couldn't-care-less apology salted with 'it got left on the...
