Got into the cheese hall at 20:10 to go and watch the football with 4 friends, I met them in there, I was the designated driver for the I rarely drink alcohol. It had been twenty minutes and the Tottenham game was becoming very interesting. The owner of the pub come over to me and asked if I was buying a drink which I replied yes I just happened to lost track of time watching the football match, he then replied it’s not a youth club. I felt embarrassed, humiliated and felt I was being bullied into buying a drink, five minutes after he asked me again which I said I don’t appreciate being bullied into getting a drink when I was going to buy one. All the people sat near the door were freezing cold because she kept opening the front door because she was 'too warm behind the bar' & when I closed it & told her why she was really aggressive towards me, saying "do you really want to go against the barmaid"(!) Err, no I dont (& if you're that warm working behind the bar then maybe dont wear a jumper made of synthetic fibres?) Read moreMyself and a friend tried to go The Cheese Hall in Crewe last Saturday and despite visiting the pub on several occasions over the last year or so we were turned away merely because we were wearing shorts.
I'd point out that this was the warmest day of the year so far and despite were shorts we still looked presentable.
I'd add that the door man could only be described as arrogant at best about the issue.
