The Heritage Centre is a place I've visited once before, back in April 2022, and I'm glad I finally returned once again; we payed for 2 tickets which came to £16, which wasn't too bad. It's a great place to come and see a range of locomotives and learn the history of them, as the information is fascinating to learn. I also like the option to go inside some of the locomotives' features, like the cab or interiors, and see what they looked like before the railways were revolutionized into the 21st century. A big thumbs up to all the volunteers who make this place what it is, especially those in the signal boxes, who have a range of knowledge on the different functions/signals up there. The place is well-looked after and we also had a nice chat to the volunteer in the gift shop (think his name was Ron) who seemed like a friendly chap. Speaking of which, there's a range of railway-related memorabilia on offer in the shop, from DVD's to fridge magnets to all-things model railway, we were spoiled for choice on what to buy! One of my favourite things is the signal box spotting point, where you have an incredible view of Crewe station and have the opportunity to see the majority of trains that pass through the station itself. It was so tranquil to watch the trains pass through for the hour we were up there! We took some nice pictures and videos of the trains passing. Would recommend to all people who are train-mad and will definitely try and visit here...

Very disappointed travelled over 2 hours to come here with just me and my husband, we both looked online to see the prices to pay which we were happy to pay the £7 advertised on their website, when we arrived at the entrance at around 11am we were very rudely greeted by 2 gentleman one older one was younger basically shouting at us who we were with when the older gentleman heard we had no children he shouted at us we had to pay because we had no children it wouldn’t be free, but we knew online we would need to pay anyway, then he shouted we had to donate which confused us as we thought we had to pay the entry price, but I said I haven’t any cash do they take card and he shouted no at me and that wasn’t no good. So we then just carried on into the place but felt very uncomfortable and couldn’t enjoy our experience after that I felt very awkward because we had no children with us and we both had a quick look around and left after 15 minutes, if it wasn’t for that awful welcome we would of stayed longer and spent money there as we both visit lots of heritage railways and quite happily spend money and donate. I don’t appreciate getting shouted at and it really spoiled our day and I felt rubbish afterwards, very disappointed and will not...

My father and I came to the Crewe Heritage Centre last weekend for my birthday. We had a fantastic day out! This place does a tremendous job celebrating and honouring Crewe’s history and contributions to railways, with a great range of engines & coaches to look at, the signal boxes are terrific to look around, there are some fantastic model railway layouts and a great miniature railway to ride on.

There’s plenty of activities for children, and some craft workshops to partake in as well. The gift shop has a good range of books and souvenirs to purchase, there’s a good canteen to purchase food and drink from and there are benches outside on the grounds to sit down and enjoy a picnic. The observation deck is brilliant as well, allowing people to watch trains go through Crewe Station.

Overall, Crewe Heritage Centre offers lots of stuff for visitors to enjoy and provides a great day out for families. Big thanks to all the volunteers who shared so many interesting stories, facts about the railways and Crewe’s importance to the railway effort. Really had a great day and will gladly...

We visited Crewe Heritage Centre on a recommendation of a friend, and it was brilliant. We went on a Wednesday when it was free entry but left a donation as it was so good. There was lots of information about the railway as well as crewe itself. My daughter loved all the "olden times" pieces. There are lots of different trains to go in and explore and spark your inner kid as you pretend to be a train driver. The signal boxes were mind-blowing. Everything was interactive! and the volunteers were very friendly and insightful. There is a reasonably priced cafe with a viewing gallery of the passing trains from crewe train station, and a lot of the passing trains peeped as you wave at them. It is very dog friendly with water stations outside the cafe and nicely spaced out with lots to room to wander on the lead. The miniature models were fun to watch, and you can ride the miniature train every 20 minutes, which was a good lengthly ride with lots of things to spot on your journey and the tunnel was a nice surprise. Brilliant day out, whatever the weather, we will definitely come back.

I’ve been past the Heritage Centre many times on the train in and out of Crewe, but this was the first time I’ve visited. We arrived on a Sunday morning, at about 11am, and it was great for casual train fans, train geeks, and kids who love all things rail-based. The highlight for me was definitely being able to explore the InterCity APT train (including messing around in the driver’s seat and even turning the lights on and off), but the visit also included a Metrolink tram, various other trains, some amazing model railway layouts. Oh, and a miniature steam engine that you could ride up and down a track and through a tunnel. Throw in a bunch of great railway memorabilia in the shop and a view of the West Coast Mainline you won’t better anywhere and, well, this is an absolute bargain. Really helpful and friendly volunteers, would 100% recommend.
