The Churchill Arms — Restaurant in England

Came in late one night and met with much hostility from what must be the owner. Just looking around the pub to find a suitable place to sit, the owner sarcastically stated 'do you need a map'. Obviously been drinking as the owner, which is fine when you still have the decency to treat potential customers with respect.

Perhaps he was trying to impress the lady who was much taller than himself so he could show to be a 'tough' guy. For a starter you aren't imposing, given your height. Maybe that's why you bought the place to make it look like you're big in a low-ceiling pub.

Been coming here for lunch most days! Normally delicious...However today really poor.. Chewy chicken and automatic service charge being added "Optional in the UK" but if you don't know its being added then you wont know you are being over charged!! Love this pub but tonight was the first time I tried the Thai food - we had a takeaway. It wasn't that nice to be honest. The pad thai was ok but It said wrapped in an omelette and actually the egg was mixed through. Wouldn't have it again. My vegetable green thai had some soft bits if unidentifiable bits - maybe tofu?
