A very rainy Thursday morning, having stayed with some friends not far from Manchester Airport, I set out for Liverpool and realised how close I was to the village of LymmâŚ.
What better place to stop for some Wifi and Coffee, plus maybe a croissant if Iâm lucky â I think I know the very place â wasnât this where the Shelmerdineâs started a business with their very 1st coffeeshop.âŚ??
Drove past it a couple of times in the heavy weather, but googlemaps helped me find the carpark by the canal, a short walk and I was greeted by the friendly and attentive staff of the Coffeehouse.
To my utter delight, I was presented with a Menu â so thereâs actually a kitchen where you can get real breakfasts as wellâŚ.. Wow, Oh Joy !
Beautiful Latte, in more ways than oneâŚ.. and I know exactly who roasts these beans, and where !
The perfectly Poached Eggs were probably the best Iâve had â ideal consistency â very important.
If itâs constructive feedback youâre after, I just wish that more places offered proper deep-fat-fried bread as well as toast, but there we are â probably an H&S/health/energy/eco-social issue â just a couple of small de-crusted triangles, probably only 250 calories each, surely ?!?
A brilliant brunch experience to set up the day â nice ambience and atmosphere â intelligent staff and happy Customers, plenty of space, decent furniture, delicious food & drink, well-priced â highly...

To start with a member of staff clearly on a break outside saw me with my bike and broke off from her lunch to assist in me putting it safely down the side of the building. It was very busy and we were a party of 6 so just as the gentleman served us and debated how we might have to be a 2 and a 4 then spied some people getting up from a table. He gave us a wink and before we knew it we had been fitted in all 6 of us together. We all had different lunches and drinks which all went down well. The sausages are exceptional, the egg yolks very bright rich orange looked proper local free range. The flat white for me being picky (snobby my kids say!) regarding coffee. Was the biggest flat white I've had, tends to be a smaller drink but it did not lack any punch and had a nice bit of latte art on the top. We could not resist a taster of an afogato at the end so we had one with several teaspoons. It was also excellent. Finally, we needed some decaf coffee beans for home use for one family member and they had recently roasted ones on sale so we took the opportunity to get that too. Highly...
Read morePopped in at lunch time with the two kids on a glorious sunny Sunday for a light lunch. It's a lovely light and airy place with seating inside and outside.
We had sandwiches - club, BLT and cheese and ham panini. These were all absolutely delicious, with plenty of filling and lovely thick pieces of bacon on the club and BLT, which also were made on thick farmhouse toasted bread. A nice potato side salad with them.
Had the summer fruits iced cooler which was so refreshing!
Delicious selection of cakes to finish - had the white chocolate millionaires and lemon drizzle. Both excellent.
Staff were really lovely and friendly. The only thing that let down the visit was how noboby cleared our dirty plates. We ended up sat with these for a long time, and they were still left on the table when our cakes were brought out. Reason the visit didn't get...
