The Comfortable Gill — Restaurant in England

Not a good experience I’m afraid. Very cold to sit in and the staff didn’t do a check to see if our food was ok. Left the plates in front of us the whole time and didn’t bother to clean them away. It felt like we had perhaps upset them and I’ve no idea why. They didn’t acknowledge us once after our food had arrived. I ordered the spicy chicken tower burger and my wife ordered the beef pie. The pie looked under cooked. The pastry was very pale. The chicken burger and chips looked like it had come from a kebab shop and played up. Also I don’t think a piece of breaded chicken fillet and a hash brown in a cold bun that hasn’t even been grilled constitutes a tower burger. All in all a very disappointing experience and the staff turned out to be exceptionally rude. The waitress that cleaned the table next to us had even seen we had finished but still didn’t come back to check on us or clean the plates. We found this lovely place today after driving about looking for somewhere to eat that would pacify the kids... Absolutely great service, bar staff so friendly and polite, food delicious and will not break the bank! Great play area to keep the kids entertained while we enjoyed a drink in the sun! We met the landlady who was very kind and came over with her lovely daughter to offer my upset son an ice lolly to make him happy! Very attentive and friendly staff. You always feel welcome when you walk into the Comfy Gill. The new owners have done a brilliant job with the Pub and the menu is mouth watering. We ordered the Lamb Shank and Steak and Ale Pie ( very popular) for lunch which was amazing. This is proper home cooked food . They also host private parties, and the buffet menu suits all ages.
