We were staying in Beadnell and for our last night we decided to eat locally on our last night. Thank goodness we decided to pop into The Courtyard. My family of 4 found a seat easily and were assisted in everything by one of the owners (it’s a family business and you can tell they really care about their customers). We each ordered something different from the menu: my youngest went for Chicken Tenders and chips which were beautifully cooked (chips without salt as requested), her only complaint was a little bit of pepper in the breadcrumb mix on the tenders (she’s a fusspot when it comes to that sort of thing). My eldest had Lasagne which arrived piping hot and tasted delicious the portion size was perfect and everyone around the table had a taste. My wife had chilli con carne which she thoroughly enjoyed it came with rice (white and wild). I had Penne Carbonara which was absolutely fantastic. It came with a warm bun (perfect for cleaning the bowl) and a pot of Parmesan which was a lovely little addition. The Courtyard is relatively new on the scene and is a little tucked away it is also less famous than some of the other eateries in Beadnell but it is the best place we have eaten on this holiday and we will...
Read moreOnly came across it by chance having seen a chalk board at the side of the road. Set in a quiet location in Beadnell, The Courtyard would be easy to pass by. Having only opened in January '23 we hadn't come across it on our last visit, but it was a welcome surprise. It is very nicely finished with a bright white decor, decorative lights and wooden furniture, giving it a comfortable, modern feel. We only had pea soup, which was very tasty, with a bread roll. It was very filling and clearly home made and much nicer for it. If anything it was almost too big a serving, which is rare for me to say. With a slightly smaller amount there'd be less chance of waste and more room for another course perhaps. Not a criticism, just an observation. We'll certainly go back and try another dish in the future. On that point, the menu is a little limited but I see that as a good thing, as some places spread themselves too thinly and end up being mediocre at lots of dishes instead of good at a few. Nice to see veggie options too. I would have bought a veggie quiche had one been on offer. I look forward to our next trip and to see how it may have evolved. Good see them open...
Read moreMade a special journey to sample the breakfast here . Arrived at 0930hrs- car parking was readily available ( no problem ).
Outdoor and indoor seating available . Staff were young and happy to help .
Decaffeinated coffee options available , along with being dog friendly( which is always a plus +). Breakfast served in a timely manner ( with friendly staff ). Full English was served with generic brown toast ( single slice ) . Eggs Benedict was served on a bread roll - not a muffin . And used back bacon instead of ham ( unusual combination ), but worked very well . Only concern was the use of generic plastic condiments, awful tasting ketchup and brown sauce ( Hard to open these plastic sachets - especially if you have mobility or manipulation issues ). Fortunately this did not detract from the overall enjoyment of this breakfast in the courtyard ( weather was...
