It's been a year or so since I've reviewed The Fat Frog Liskeard. This used to be one of my favourite places to visit in Liskeard, however, it has recently undergone a change of ownership. Oh dear..... What an utter shame. On this occasion I only had a latte and a hot chocolate but feel ok to review as I was able to see what's happened to what was once a thriving community hub. On entering I immediately noticed the lack of lighting (for some reason the lights behind the counter were all off) This made it feel unwelcoming, we were not acknowledged by the new owner and had to seat ourselves at the only available clean table, only to be asked to move to an alternative table after short while. We spoke about the availability of Gluten free options but we're told that there is no longer a dedicated GF frier so that basically renders this place a no go for Coeliac sufferers - what a shame. There was some small GF cup cakes available but at £4.95 we deemed this too expensive considering the size. Whilst waiting for our drinks we were witness to many complaints of missing food and excessive wait times. I feel sad for Liskeard, we've all lost a fantastic venue, with a happy vibrant atmosphere and a team of people happy in their work and ready to bring a little cheer to all our lives.
I've not reviewed here for a couple of years but it's the best casual dining experience in Liskeard. More than a cafe, it's a warm welcoming environment with outstanding customer service and piping hot quality food cooked fresh to order. All of the well trained front of house staff are very aware of allergens (the menus also have allergen info) and are able to offer up alternate choices. Further reassurances and clarity can be sought from Mark and Jo, the Owners. I have a coeliac sufferer in the family and we have always been extremely well catered for and have no hesitation in recommending The Fat Frog Liskeard.
My personal favourites on the menu would have to be the delicious barista coffee and the Builders Bap with the...
Read moreI have just arrived back home after a short break in Cornwall and decided that I needed to leave a couple of reviews after having a great experience whilst being there. I looked on this cafes Google review page only to be surprised to find its latest review was quite scathing and in my opinion quite unjust. We were in this cafe on Saturday just gone and they were absolutely heaving (normally a good sign) so we decided to stay and wait for a table to become free. We were met by a lovely lady who told us that a table was just about to become free and that once it had been cleaned that the table was ours. We were also shown their cafe ‘dog friendly rules’ that are on the wall as you enter with some very understandable instructions for dog owners and their dogs being allowed into the cafe. We were then directed to our table and perused through the menu and had our order taken by another equally lovely waitress. Our coffees were absolutely exquisite, quite honestly the best coffee I’ve had for quite a while. When our lunches came (took approximately 30-35 mins) they were hot, obviously freshly made, presented very well and were absolutely delicious! We kept our dog on the floor and out of the way of the waiting staff moving fairly swiftly around the cafe as they were so busy. A really lovely experience and if we’re ever back down that way we will definitely seek you out again. Well done the fat frog, 5...
Read moreMy husband and I have been wanting to go to The Fat Frog for some time and we're glad we finally did.
I love family owned businesses and it didn't disappoint. It's super cute decor, service with a smile and tasty food earned my promised return.
My husband had the Standard Breakfast (without tomatoes or mushrooms)...he said it was gorgeous. I had the breakfast pocket with scrambled eggs ( I was ecstatic to know they had sriracha for my wrap) and a lovely caramel iced tea. It was divine.
Donna informed us that a new and exciting menu is coming in a few days (27/10/25) and I'm looking forward to it. They're going to be offering Sunday roast, another thing to be excited about.
I highly recommend The Fat Frog. We will definitely be back.
Note: It's table service, so pick a seat and they'll get with you or get your menu from them at the counter ( because sometimes they're busy getting orders together, so be kind and patient). Also, the right hand door leads to the semi pet friendly area...semi friendly because they ask that no dogs are on the furniture and must be friendly...which...
