My favourite thing about ā€˜spoons is the history of the buildings they inhabit! My husband remembers this place as the old 1970s Esso garage, and Spoons have honoured this history by displaying huge old metal garage signs on the way up to the terrace. I’ve driven past the King Doniert many times and wanted to go in, it always looked welcoming. Today when we went in we were met with a huge space seating area with comfy looking chairs and tables. We headed straight upstairs because it was sunny and we wanted to be outside. I’ve been in many pubs across the country and I can tell you that the roof terrace or garden is often grossly overlooked by bar and cleaning staff but this terrace is clean, has decent tables, matching chairs and even netting to protect your food from Cornwalls pesky chip-eating seagulls! Speaking of food, my husband had stray and ale pie with mash and I had the chicken burger with Jack Daniel’s glaze.. this is now my favourite meal in the world! The bun was soft but toasted, the chicken was crispy and hot, the chips were fluffy and crispy and the onion rings were crunchy and not greasy. I consider myself a chicken burger expert and this was definitely top 3! Considering it has to contend with top spot Foreign Muck in Saltash that is very good going indeed. The place was clean, accessible and the toilets...

Went in had no one tell us where we could sit just expected to find a table went and sat down ordered food when the first pizza came my 10 year old cousin was sick all over the table for some reason the waiter carried on bringing us the food even tho there was sick all over the table eventually he cleared the plate with sick all over it and then came and sprayed the table from a height with disenfectant which then went all over the food so we didn't eat much of it the waiter should be fired I'm not sure of his name but I'm not sure why or what he thought he was doing was right I'm just a bit speechless I approached the manager at the end and she was very helpful and offered a full refund. All this aside I am chef and the food was awful it was cold, not very well made the rice was clumped together on the topped chips there was 3 very small slices of bacon and 4 strands of cheese the pizza was under done the hallomi fries again cold and very poorly fried safe to say this is not a restaurant I would go to in the future and I highly recommend a food critic going taking this review and closing them...

Breakfast this morning was a reliable, reasonable quality breakfast that you would get in any weatherspoons. You don’t get the feel good factor of supporting local producers which I feel is important, especially here in Cornwall. What really irritated me was, after asking for black pudding (usually 75p extra!) to replace the baked beans, the young ladies behind the bar agreed that that could be included at no extra charge. A few minutes later one of the 2 staff came Up to me to charge me the 75p for the black pudding as it could not be ā€œswapped inā€..... She had obviously been told by management that she had to charge me. You just don’t do that. Learn from the experience, accept a few pence loss and not repeat it. Don’t go back to the customer! I’ll stick with my normal places for breakfast and stick to my usuall pubs for beer. So where I will be treated like a...

Took my children her for tea this evening, staff weren't the most helpful first off, we needed a childs menu when the waitress pointed to the end of the bar and insinuated I collect it!!!! So left my children ( aged 8 & 11) seated in really busy pub in a strange town and go searching for one, as I wasn't having them approach a bar busy with men who were drinkng after leaving work on a Friday. When the food came the cutlery was dirty (have took a photo) and my eldest daughters had a long black hair on it not to dissimilar to the legnth and colour of the young waitress, when I informed them I received a halfheart apology and a shrug ! Needless to say we didn't finish our food as we were quite put off and feeling physicallysick, so I'll think twice about visiting here again! And wont be recommending the place

Amazing space, the downstairs is probably the largest area of any of Liskeards pubs. The booths have sockets complete with USB ports for charging your devices, and dimmer switches for the lights. Unlimited coffee refills make it a good place to wait for people, and if you're really antisocial you can even use their app to order food and drinks and not have to deal with staff. The upstairs area is there the toilets are and the upper veranda. The area upstairs has netting to protect from pigeons and seagulls so you can eat in peace. There's also a covered area for smokers, or they can use the downstairs beer garden which is a bit quieter. Overall it's a experience and I hope they keep it as good as it is now.
