Worst dessert I've had in my life.
Came in with my partner for some food.
The calamari was quite good though the portion was lacking for the price- I think I payed around £7 for around 6 breaded pieces and a pile of rocket on the side (no watercress as advertised but that's not a big deal for me) Partner ordered the jerk wings but got given battered tenders with jerk sauce and was told that it was his order (tenders are a separate option on the menu but it looks like they ran out of wings). Not ideal since my other half doesn't like heavily battered food. The roast was alright though I just tried a little bit. Veg was nicely seasoned but cauliflower cheese was lacking.
Now onto the dessert- I was quite excited for the £7.50 roasted pineapple with vegan coconut mousse but I am not overexaggerating when I say this was the worst dessert I have had. The two roasted tinned pineapple rings were mediocre at best but the true atrocity was the tasteless, weirdly sour (?) coconut gloop on top. The passionfruit pulp couldn't save it and I left the mousse on the plate.
My cocktail was delicious- the lychee-politan, though £10, it was a treat. Guinness was meh. Service however, was fab! Lovely guy and girl served us in the late evening of November 10th.
Overall, I'd say the food here is disappointing and overpriced and would save my money for elsewhere...
Read moreVery disappointed . Visited the Goods Yard for an anniversary meal, we had been before so expected a nice evening out. However things have changed and not for the better. We ordered our drinks and looked at the menu and it was very basic and very expensive , £24.50 for an 8 oz sirloin steak. More than happy to pay that sort of money for a Rib-eye steak or something similar but felt this was excessive. Although the pub was not busy, we waited nearly half an hour for somebody to take our food order. The staff were far too busy talking amongst themselves at the bar to bother with us! After 25 minutes we gave up waiting and left. The bar bill for a glass of wine and a beer was £13.85 which again is excessive. We went up the road to the Willet Arms and had a really lovely meal in a nice setting with extremely attentive staff. I would add that I paid £22.95 for a 10 oz Rib-eye steak which was beautifully cooked . A much nicer glass of wine and a beer came in at £10.70 So to conclude this review, very poor service with a very basic and overpriced menu, we certainly wont be going back and would not recommend it to anyone. If I could I wouldn't give...
Read moreSuch a shame to have had a pretty poor experience. We've been to the Goods Yard a number of times, for food and drinks. This time was our anniversary so it was special for us. My husband had ordered a burger which he has enjoyed in the past, so he thought it was a safe bet to expect a good meal especially at that price!! Well the burger was less than satisfactory, being full of gristle and he didn't want to finish it... that is saying something! Anyway, they were good and replaced his meal with a better tasting chicken and bacon salad.... went safe this time. My friend happened to be eating there at the same time and unfortunately her experience was even worse, finding a fairly sizeable bit of thick plastic in her food!! This is totally unacceptable and I personally think an explanation is in order. Both times, neither the chef nor the manager attended to us, leaving the poor young waitress to deal with both issues. Again, totally unacceptable and cowardly. Not sure I'm going to eat there again unfortunately. If I do, I'll be going for...
