We are visiting Oundle and thought of giving this place a go for breakfast. Absolutely a disastrous place and will not recommend it all!

front/serving staff looked unhappy and unwelcoming

americano coffee came less than 3/4 of the cup and no milk was served; asked for some hot water to top it up and was charged 50p for it

cafe latte was returned as it was served tepid and not hot

ordered bacon roll with extra mushrooms at a charge - was served with a dry and overcooked bacon with 6 thinly slices of mushroom, not even a full button mushroom

ordered runny poached eggs on toast with extra mushrooms at a charge - was served with overcooked eggs and boiled looking mushrooms similar to tinned mushrooms

ordered strawberry milkshake and served with cold milk with strawberry flavoured syrup sitting at the bottom

We kindly prompt the staff of what we ordered and what we were served, and although they took it back, the unhappy faces and gestures says it all.

We settled and waited more until I have finished my now tepid americano, here came the lady chef who barged in to our table unhappily served the bacon roll to my husband and shoving the box of mushrooms onto my face and said rudely "I am very busy but this is the mushrooms we use".

Across us was an old couple who also commented "My God that was rude?!". When they finished, they came up to us very concerned and asked how we were. They also commented that they are regulars and they do think the place isn't what it used to be.

Absolutely lost our appetite so had asked the front staff to cancel the food orders and requested for a refund. Spent another half an hour for the manager to get to the shop to arrange the refund. Yes, she arranged for the refund but made sure two coffees and the hot water top up were charged!

Even when busy, for £27, poor attitude and poor quality of food ensures we would go...

Went for a family lunch at the Greedy Piglet. We've never had a bad lunch here & it's always pretty busy, with today no exception. A booth became available & we settled in. Two of us went for a breakfast, one for a ham & cheese sandwich & I went for the burger. We had milkshakes (always delicious) as well. We all thoroughly enjoyed it & were very full! The girl serving brought a can of drink for my daughter for free, apologising for a delay. We hadn't noticed the delay, but it was a busy Saturday lunchtime, so inevitably the kitchen would be strained. Two diners were far less patient & began to get loud & grumpy before kicking off very loudly at the staff. The poor young girl serving them was soon in tears after the cafe politely refused to refund the full meal, as rudely demanded by the shouting visitors. They may have had a point. I don't know. What I do know is they behaved horrendously & showed no remorse for leaving a young girl in bits. Shame on them. Anyway, they failed to ruin our experience & we will...

What a disappointment. I asked for the eggs on my breakfast to be well done, not an unreasonable request. The breakfast arrived with the eggs barely cooked, even the whites were undercooked. They agreed to redo the breakfast. Next one arrived with eggs still runny. In addition the remainder of the breakfast had been left on the plate while the eggs were being cooked and was cold. Even on the third attempt the eggs were undercooked. The 'Chef'/cook came out and said that was the best she could do and that my requests were holding up the service for other people! To add insult a young assistant who is definitely not a strong ambassador for the local comprehensive added her thoughts - a stint at charm school would not go amiss for her! I have to say the omelette my wife...

Fantastic service provided by a great team! Always super friendly and have a knack for remembering your favourite items....nice smile to go with my daily espresso... I would absolutely recommend - food and drinks are really decent. Plus the portions are more than generous!

Great little cafe, fab cakes friendly staff. There is a bike/cycle stand opposite the cafe so you can keep an eye on your bike. And Oundle had an amazing knitted tribute for remembrance day, covering the post box, benches and a tree wrapped in poppies.
