Less popular than some other pubs in the high street (and we could easily find a table for 5 on early Saturday afternoon) but cosy with a few smaller rooms in the back and a beer garden. Service was excellent and friendly for lunch on a weekend. Camembert with onion chutney was OK, but too much coating and too little cheese. Prawns and avocado in chilli mayonnaise was also average and let down by the bread. Blue cheese mushrooms were good. Mains were good - we had lamb rogan josh, wild boar burger and sausage and mash. Sweet potato fries are worth getting too.

Visited with some of our ladies football team today after a less than pleasant experience at a pub just down the road. The two bar staff were very welcoming and friendly, and sorted last minute food orders for us! The food was lovely, and the pub itself is beautiful. Can’t thank the staff enough for their service today! It was very much appreciated! We will definitely return when our fixture is rescheduled! 😊

A bit of a tardis of a pub, traditional front bar with lots of old features, but the pub keeps going back and back. More rooms then 2 pagodas and a beer garden as long a 6 neighbouring terraced houses. It's huge. Good pints. Quirky locals at the bar during our visit, but squeeze past them and these loads to explore.

! Booked a table for 10 for breakfast but it had not been placed in the diary ! Therefore unprepared , not your cafe presented breakfast but it was presented with that touch of flair , beans on the plate in a dish (they were dry not moist, sausages were over cooked & the 1 rasher of bacon was dry as if it had been sat under a hot lamp waiting while everything else was being cooked and the tomato on the menu was only 1/2 of 1 not a whole tomato, but the staff were polite and it was clean £7 for a full english, 1 sausage,1 rasher,1egg, 1 large mushroom, 1 slice of toast, portion of beans...

This is a friendly place above a pub. Check in is in the pub itself and the rooms are accessed by a stairway that leads up from the front lounge of the pub. Initial impressions are quite poor due to the state of the stairwell but the rooms are nice. We booked two rooms and they were both en suite and very well maintained, with kettle, tea and coffee in the rooms. One of the rooms faced the front (main street) so a little noisy on weekend evenings. The noise also comes up from the pub below but it does close by 11pm so not much of a problem. Excellent breakfast and...
