Overpriced pretentious menu in the same format of a Brunning & Price establishment. Small plates at inflated prices , such as that classic pub standard , Fish & Chips, Tartare sauce and mushy peas @ £15 !! Likewise , Small burger with cheese and bacon topping , 8 chips & a teaspoonful of coleslaw @ £15.50 ! Gross Profit Margin must be around 75% at these ridiculous extreme prices. To be honest, it's very average all round . Needs a more varied menu , so that vegetarians and pescatarians are catered for. Staff very pleasant and helpful, good selection of real cask ales , but business managers need to reassess pricing structure because it does not represent good value for money at all. Another example is Hake ,potatoes , sapphire, @ £18.50 !! Dog friendly with selected tables available for those customers who wish to bring their dog along . Fresh water in dog bowls provided along with a handful of...
Read moreRecently visited this establishment as I had heard good things. However it was very disappointing. The food is very average and extremely overpriced for what is a pub restaurant. I wouldn't call ot a gastro pub. The food was pretentious whilst being very average pub fare. Which leads me to the next disappointment. Despite appearances this establishment is a actually quite small and badly laid out. The bar area which is central was packed with noisy drinkers who blocked staff and customers to one of the restaurant areas. Not only were they noisy but also damn right rude. This establishment needs to make up it's mind what it actually is. Nearly £100 for a 2 course meal for 2 people is not cheap pub food. I won't be returning. Actually I wanted to go to the Boat Inn in Erbistock which is far better quality and value. Also a much more pleasant establishment not done out on the cheap with no...
Read moreWhilst the staff were lovely and the waiting times were fine, we were left rather disappointed by the quality and portion size of the food. The £19 (supposedly large portion) crispy lamb salad was what I would have expected from the smaller portion, the smaller bits of lamb were dry and lacked flavour and it was generally under seasoned. The £19 angus steak burger had a patty that took up about half of the bun itself. There was also no drinks menu which wasnt a big issue, but did make ordering drinks more tedious, as the waitress had to read out all the options to us. Overall I couldn't recommend this pub/restaurant unless you are looking for more traditional English pub food (as the fish and chips were supposedly quite nice). I'll reinstate that the service was great and the staff were all lovely, but there are much better options nearby when it comes to...
