Overpriced pretentious menu in the same format of a Brunning & Price establishment. Small plates at inflated prices , such as that classic pub standard , Fish & Chips, Tartare sauce and mushy peas @ £15 !! Likewise , Small burger with cheese and bacon topping , 8 chips & a teaspoonful of coleslaw @ £15.50 ! Gross Profit Margin must be around 75% at these ridiculous extreme prices. To be honest, it's very average all round . Needs a more varied menu , so that vegetarians and pescatarians are catered for. Staff very pleasant and helpful, good selection of real cask ales , but business managers need to reassess pricing structure because it does not represent good value for money at all. Another example is Hake ,potatoes , sapphire, @ £18.50 !! Dog friendly with selected tables available for those customers who wish to bring their dog along . Fresh water in dog bowls provided along with a handful of...

Recently visited this establishment as I had heard good things. However it was very disappointing. The food is very average and extremely overpriced for what is a pub restaurant. I wouldn't call ot a gastro pub. The food was pretentious whilst being very average pub fare. Which leads me to the next disappointment. Despite appearances this establishment is a actually quite small and badly laid out. The bar area which is central was packed with noisy drinkers who blocked staff and customers to one of the restaurant areas. Not only were they noisy but also damn right rude. This establishment needs to make up it's mind what it actually is. Nearly £100 for a 2 course meal for 2 people is not cheap pub food. I won't be returning. Actually I wanted to go to the Boat Inn in Erbistock which is far better quality and value. Also a much more pleasant establishment not done out on the cheap with no...

Whilst the staff were lovely and the waiting times were fine, we were left rather disappointed by the quality and portion size of the food. The £19 (supposedly large portion) crispy lamb salad was what I would have expected from the smaller portion, the smaller bits of lamb were dry and lacked flavour and it was generally under seasoned. The £19 angus steak burger had a patty that took up about half of the bun itself. There was also no drinks menu which wasnt a big issue, but did make ordering drinks more tedious, as the waitress had to read out all the options to us. Overall I couldn't recommend this pub/restaurant unless you are looking for more traditional English pub food (as the fish and chips were supposedly quite nice). I'll reinstate that the service was great and the staff were all lovely, but there are much better options nearby when it comes to...

A last minute first visit to the Hare with my son . Opted for the Sunday roast beef unfortunately sold out these things happen , opted for the only other roast available Pork . Vegetables were delicious pork a little tough had to ask for more gravy which was brought out quickly , roast pictured below not the greatest roast I have had . Requested apple sauce unfortunately not available ?! . I would not return after this visit far better options not to far away . The decor and atmosphere great the service mixed female very efficient and friendly the male waiter / server not to passionate about his role . Had to leave my meal and walk to bar for another drink ! Another walk to bar to pay for meal the male waiter busy chatting to a couple for over ten minutes on the table next to us take it he was a regular ?! .

Absolutely outstanding takeaway! We had two portions of fish and chips (large) and a chickpea curry. The fish was gigantic, and not with loads of excess air in the batter like some others. The chips were excellent - chunky, fluffy on the inside, and crispy on the outside. And a much bigger portion of mushy peas than you'd usually get elsewhere! The chickpea curry was delicious too - really tasty and nice accomplishments. The COVID precautions in place were good. Extremely impressed!

Absolutely first rate food, service, atmosphere and cheerful fellow customers! The Menu is really exciting; inventive and wholesome choices. We had some lovely starter bar snacks, in particular; the Haggis fritters with peppercorn was as delicious as it looked! Excellent wine choice too - the Rhone Hare is delightful. The sort of place that makes autumn and winter very bearable. We’ll be back soon for the Hungarian Goulash!
