45 minute wait and then an hour wait for food was put on after I already ordered and no-one told me until I complained. Was told that the manager said to prioritise groups of customers over single customers as it had gotten busy, had to watch 3 tables who ordered way after me get their food and finish it. Then I was told it would be another 10 minutes. Asked for a refund and while getting it the food is magically ready so I sat back down. Food came charred and overcooked. Felt absolutely beaten and was starving so I ate the food, I won't be eating there again though. The response I've had is also misleading. The chef situation was never explained to me, I was merely repeating what the staff told me about prioritising tables and I did not...
Read moreAlways loved this place in the past to have a great meal but oh boy it has gone downhill. We ordered 2 mixed grills. The place were reasonably quiet, which I thought were a bit unusual, until it came to closing/leaving time. Approximately 5 minutes after the last orders bell were sounded, the YOUNG guy behind the bar turned into a rude, obnoxious, disrespectful, aggressive THING. The Highfield used to be my local, but now travel the extra mile to the Shovels Pub, where you get treated like a human being. It was the worst experience of being in a family pub, but guarantee I won't go in again. The best phrase to sum up last night's experience is, " The place had gone...
