A hidden gem on a back street in Corby. Calling this a “greasy spoon cafe” really doesn’t do justice to how good the experience of eating at The Hungry Hossee is. It’s from a dying breed of traditional British café where the service is friendly, the food affordable, tasty and plentiful.
You’ll find people from across the community eating here too, and everyone is welcomed with a smile.
It’s really apparent that the whole team gives 100% to serving customers and preparing food. So far, I’ve just had a few cooked breakfasts, consisting of bacon, fried egg, sausage, black pudding, sausage square, mushrooms, baked beans and tomatoes with fried bread and bread and butter or toast. They’ll happily accommodated variations/changes too, and cooked breakfasts come with a hot drink too… all very reasonably priced.
Fine dining this is not, but it is good food, it is in surprisingly civil surroundings (looks better inside than out) and the service as I’ve already mentioned is fantastic.
My ONLY suggestion (and this goes for many similar establishments) would be to provide sausages of a higher quality. They’re not bad, but it’s a bit of a missed opportunity that would really elevate...
Read moreI never knew about this little gem of a cafe until a friend of mine asked me if i want to go out and eat at the hungry Hossee. I said sure, why not. Oh boy, BEST Breakfast ever. You just know the chef takes pride in what they do and they pass their expertise to the customer and you are greeted with a smile, a impeccable service and a top tier tasty Fry up. For the amount you get, and I mean you get alot it is defintely value for money and I have no hesitation in going there again as the food is very top quality.
You would be forgiven for not knowing about this place as it's in a cul de sac behind the shops on studfall avenue so chances are you have passed by this gem. If you haven't had the luxury of knowing about The Hungry Hossee you are really missing out and I would highly recommened that you pay a visit as the food is very nice, the young lady at the counter makes you feel welcome and the chef brings you your food with a warm welcoming smile.

Read moreWent there today- hungry af. Ordered a "medium" breakfast for a fiver- self serve tea- unlimited refills- that's pretty cool. The cafe is very trusting of its customers- there's a whole arrangement of tea and coffe (even hot chocolate) at the self-serve drink area.
I arrived at the cafe at 7:10- there was 3 people already served when I went in- there was one lady working there and she had it all under control and provided a swift and beautifully mannered service.
The food itself was hot- eggs cooked perfectly, bacon, everything cooked so well it brought a smile to my face.
Can't ask for more- if you're looking for a early, affordable feed- this is the...
