A little noisy if busy, but great if it is not. I do have tinnitus so I find the noise makes conversation difficult. I find it very echoey. The staff push or scrape the chairs under the tables when clearing up and that ricochetes around the space. A bit like fingernails being scraped accross a black board. I find that unnecessary and very annoying. So low mark for the ambience - pleasant as the decor is. Chairs can be uncomfortable but it is part of the look I guess. The food can be really nice or really mediocre depending on what you choose. I don’t like fast food and avoid it, so tend to have salads, these can be hit and miss too, from having a great experience to a “gosh the salad looks a bit sad, “ experience. Staff can be very sweet and accommodating and one or two are a little surly. Hung over or a Bad day with customers perhaps. The till is where you order, that can be slow. My preference - one or two people doing the orders and two people doing the drinks and serving to tables of their customers rather than having customers queueing up and getting impatient while waiting for drinks at the till area. I have had to wait a significant time to order and the drinks seemed to take forever being made. (We customers can be impatient and it improves our experience to be able to sit with the person/s you have come with and have a natter while waiting for drinks to be brought to the table, having paid and ordered your meal etc.at the till. Maybe there is a reason this is not done? Staffing levels or something.....) Overall a mixed bag but worth a visit for sure. The venue has the most amazing views, parking is easy, poole park is lovely to walk around, and the restaurant had a reasonable menu, with gluten free options, just pray and hope staff of the day lift the chairs back into place when tidying tables and do not scrape them...
Read moreWent on a Sunday with a party of 10 for breakfast. Perhaps I should have phoned ahead but we arrived at 9.30am, 3 staff were in the entrance so I knocked on the window to alert them we would be coming and put two tables together.... The staff were obviously really annoyed that I did that. I shouted through the glass that we needed a table for ten and was told no, just turn up we're not taking anymore bookings. I asked if I could put two tables together when we arrived and was told no, we don't do that. So, we went for a walk, came back at ten and walked past one reserved table set for ten at 10.30 (not us), in the middle of the restaurant. We went to the end, pushed to tables together, got obvious annoyed looks from the staff but that didn't matter as we had a lovely time meeting up. The whole time we were there the reserved table did not show up. I would not go there with a group again, the order was wrong, the staff pleasant once open, but unpleasant prior to that. The food was average. The coffee is...
Read moreReview based on my experience of the venue at the Garry J Foley Elvis tribute event last night. Firstly the food was very good, and hot, although it was a long time coming. For some reason we were plunged into almost darkness just before the food was served, and the lights remained so dim we could hardly see Garry for the first half of the show. They had also positioned him right down one end so people the other end had a job to see anything at all. This also meant seating layout wasn’t ideal for watching the show as half the chairs faced away from the “stage” due to being set up at tables for eating. Would have worked better if Garry was in the middle of one side of the room. Drinks way overpriced too! Plenty of room for improvement for future shows… but I must add that Garry himself was...
