Donât go there for a drink with your dog!!!
Our experience of this pub was ruined by a surly barmaid who completely blanked me three times during our stay here. Another young barman confirmed we could bring our dog in but he wasnât keen if we had muddy boots. There are no facilities to clean off boots by the front door.
We asked where to sit and were shown a long corridor bench. Within five minutes of sitting down we were asked to move as the area was apparently part of the restaurant and we were âbeyond the white lineâ!! Our dog was perfectly well behaved and sitting down next to us but our presence alone was contravening good old health and safety according to the barman.
Beer options were reasonable but we only stayed for one pint. Hand dryers in both Ladies toilets were not working and hot tap was extremely difficult to turn on and off.
This pub should focus more on useful and helpful customer services and less on stupid rules which make no sense. Bar staff should be taught some manners. We will find other more welcoming places to go for a drink when walking our dog in...

Decided just to have one drink and skip food on this occasion. I will definitely come back at some point. Staying in Cookham again so I took the opportunity to revisit the Swan Uppers. Ordered a drink and sat at a table in the bar as I wanted to eat dinner here. Chose the calves liver and bacon with a side of tender stem broccoli. Food was served promptly after ordering and the presentation was very good. The liver was cooked to perfection and the smoked bacon complimented it wonderfully served on a bed of mash in a delicious shallot and red wine jus. The broccoli was cooked with garlic and chilli and maybe even some coriander which gave it a lovely Asian inspired flavour. So glad I had the opportunity to revisit and eat in a friendly, cosy and welcoming pub that serves...
Read morePoor service, food was good. Went on a Tuesday night as a party of four (during eat out to help out and early August heat wave). It was probably busier than your average Tuesday but there were four waiting staff that could have easily coped. Unfortunately we had to get up from our table four times. Firstly to ask to see the menu, secondly to ask for someone to take our mains order, thirdly to ask to see the dessert menu and fourthly to ask to place a dessert order. This was extremely disappointing and put a negative spin on the evening.
We had staff walk past our table numerous times but we felt a little ignored.
My feedback to the management would be to set your waiting staff to work zonal tables so each staff members know which tables they are looking after. The impression you portray is a disorganised one...which sticks in a customer's throat more so when you slap a service charge...
