After our 4 night stay in the Worcester room last year, my Husband and I returned to the Rosie this month, staying for 3 nights in the Hereford room this time.||||The room, with its characterful low wooden beams and so many original features , was delightful, and the room amenities are thoughtful and comprehensive... a well stocked hospitality tray with teas, coffee ( including decaf) hot chocolate, delicious home-made shortcake biscuits which are as light and lovely as an angel’s eyebrows, and a spotlessly clean en-suite, stocked with snowy white towels, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, and all manner of other bits and bobs like cotton buds, shower caps etc. ||||We had breakfast each morning, all chosen from the very comprehensive breakfast menu, and expertly cooked fresh to order by Trudie , who is a wizard at making the perfect scrambled or poached eggs, and the bacon and sausages are locally sourced and obviously high quality.||||We had dinner in the pub each evening, and we can thoroughly recommend the home made burgers, and the pizza which is thin, crispy and delicious, topped your choice of veggie and/or non-veggie toppings. ||||One evening my husband chose the pie of the day, which was pork, apple and leeks, and it was superb.. packed with meat, and he thoroughly enjoyed it.||||Each dinner was preceded by a serving of very fresh warm bread and a pat of home-made herb butter.... delicious!||||Chilled tap water is provided in stoppered bottles with “ perfectly drinkable tap water” etched onto the bottle... an amusing and novel way of presenting it! ||||Valerie served our evening meals, and she works very hard to make sure everything is OK, a nice lady.||||The bar prices are very reasonable indeed, with a great selection of wines, gins and other spirits, guest ales , and much more.||||All the staff are warm and welcoming, and it was so nice that we were remembered from our previous visit just over a year ago..||||Don’t hesitate, whether you are looking for a great value B&B, a lunch or evening meal, or simply a great pub for a drink, the Rose & Crown has it all, and we will certainly return.||||Thank you Chris and Sarah for another...
Read moreVisited the Rose and Crown on Tuesday 10th December for a group Christmas lunch. Prior to the visit we had been informed that there was wheelchair access to the dining area. Upon arrival, we were told that the front entrance was inaccessible to wheelchairs, so our elderly friend had to use an alternative entrance. Then we were informed our tables were at the rear of the pub as opposed to the front which we had booked. The lady in the wheelchair had to then be lifted by members of the Rose and Crown up and down steps before being seated at her table. She found the whole experience upsetting, especially because the group had been reassured there was disabled access. The meal was poorly presented and below the standards usually associated with the Rose and Crown. One group member requested that her dessert was served without custard, however she was told that no other dessert was available and she had pre-ordered her meal so therefore it couldn't be changed. I find it hard to comprehend that in the run up to Christmas, the Rose and Crown could not offer a slice of Christmas pudding without custard. The group chose that particular restaurant to celebrate their Christmas lunch at because of its ourstanding reputation and previous visits, however after this visit it is unlikely any member would happily recommend the...
Read morePre booked a family Christmas get together/meal, on arrival no one greeted our party of 10 and on approach to the specific table we had requested during the pre booking phone call we were told we were seated elsewhere. I was particularly disappointed and pointed this out, the staff then re seated us at the oval table originally booked and had to add place mats and chairs to accommodate us(not happy). The pre booked meals placed over the phone, included three vegan meals. However, only one was brought to the table, when this was queried we were told that was the order placed to save embarrassment and to not make a scene I accepted maybe I had made an error. We were the offered two vegan meals , but the two none vegan meals would have to be payed for. On returning home I checked the order made by phone, and I had infact ordered correctly. On reflection email orders would have been a better option. All in all this tainted our Family Christmas get together. I have been to the Rose and Crown a few times before and I have to say it has always been a fantastic experience, so maybe on this occasion there were other...
