We went here within it's first week of opening, as it is less than 5 minutes walk from our home, hoping that the recent renovations would make it a more viable 'local'.
Okay so they spent hundreds of thousands doing it up and it all looks very nice, but we went on the Sunday evening.
..and so the restaurant which occupies half of the space inside is clearly not open, yet there are not enough seats for all the patrons in the bar, so we are forced outside.
We realised we had arrived half way through the pub quiz, so in terms of atmosphere, it is about the same as it always was, but with a few more people in there.
Our last delight came when we ordered two drinks and were charged nearly a tenner for them!
So if you want to realise the new owners dreams of a return on investment, and subsidise the total cost of refurb for them far too quickly - Hurry, get yourself there quickly!
If you want a nice high end pub with a nice atmosphere, that doesn't require you to take out a mortgage first, either go to one in the surrounding villages or wait a year or two for the owner to realise that the location is neither Milton Keynes nor London.

Read moreI only visit on Rugby days. So not sampled the food. But it looks like very basic pub grub. It's a well known pub for home and away supporters alike. Given that, they appear at times to be understaffed and some of them are, shall we say, a bit dissmissive. They are not good at serving customers in order so you have to be a bit pushy. Prices are ok, plenty of TV's showing sport. Patio heaters for the...
