The Coffee Press — Restaurant in England

I was a regular here, recommending to everyone until i've had two unpleasant experiences. The first was on bank holiday where the young lad was so snooty, we spent £40 on breakfast and he couldn't even say please or thank you. Clearly hungover and in a grump- which i can understand so i returned. Second was with my 3 month old, having a really tough day and thought i'd stop by for a coffee to cheer myself up. The whole cafe was empty apart from one elderly lady sat down, her chair was blocking the only route to the counter, I was desperately struggling with my pram to get through while the two staff members who were stood around doing f all watched with miserable faces, didn't offer a hand. Eventually after a good few minutes with no help feeling completely embarrassed due to them constantly staring and pulling awkward faces at meI decided to just leave. No one offered to just take my order from where i was stood, which would've been easy for them to do, they just watched me struggle and glared whilst doing it. It's a shame to be honest as some of the staff here are so lovely. All i wanted was to get a coffee and take a stroll to help my day along but i could've done without the embarrassment and being made to feel like i shouldn't have been there. Lots of reviews about the friendly service but I found the opposite on Sunday. From the moment we walked in the door I felt like we inconvenienced the waiter; who didn’t look up from the counter to engage us (despite just busying himself gazing into space). We discussed this and considered leaving but we thought we’d give it a second chance. He then told us our breakfast order was too big (2 breakfasts and 3 beans on toast for kids) so we just ordered cake and coffee from the counter. It was a shame as the cafe was nice and the snacks we did have were good. I hope it was just unfortunate for us and a one-off. Finally, I don’t tend to give a bad review as there is nothing in it for me, but hopefully it helps the management. I’d be happy to remove once...

If you want a family friendly inviting experience do not go here. They are rude dismissive and extremely unprofessional. I walked in and was not acknowledged until 10 minutes later. The female did not make eye contact gave me my cold latte without sugars on to a dirty bar top. I enquired via their instagram about leaving a review on the page and was told that I was the rude one for daring to set foot in their pokey coffee shop and expect a smile on arrival. If you think you are above public service you’re in the wrong trade and if you are defensive when you are pulled up on your bad behaviour then I can gladly offer you a course in the barista trade and customer services. Perhaps then you will be worthy on a business....
