Friendly staff. good food. excellent prices
Excellent choices on menu, good atmosphere, service was a little on the slow side BUT it was well worth the wait AS the food was lovely BUT if you want to receive freshly cooked meals then you have to be willing to wait for it to be cooked. I would like to take the opportunity to recommend THE. SHOVELS PUB situated on Common Edge Road, Blackpool for meal out for tea with friends or for a date night or a special occasion, such as an Anniversary treat,a birthday celebrations OR even a rare family get together. I enjoyed my lunch out with my old friend, who I lost touch with about 20+ years ago and we have just found each other through Facebook and we are enjoying spending time together again to catch up wmhilst having our lunch out togsther and one of the best places we have met up has to be THE SHOVELS PUB Thank You to ALl thw staff involved in the running of the establishment including the bar staff, the waiting on staff, the chef AND the rest of the kitchen staff too AND then NOT to forget the cleaning staff who aren't actually there when the place is open to customers BUT IF they weren't able to make sure that the building was cleaned ever day and kept in a reasonably clean and healthy condition then the chances of being ILL after eating there or being ' discouraged from wanting to purchase food and eat it would almost certainly have a dire effect upon the popularity of the business. ALl staff members despite what time they work and what their job role is within the establishment deserve acknowledgment for such a good experience like the one that my friend and I have just encountered
Thanks to EVERYONE involvedin the smooth running of this friendly and supplier of wonderfully cooked and well presented foods You are all deserving of a pay rise in my opinion You are the BEST LLACE TO GO FOR YOUR LUNCH OR TEA IN THE MAR TON/SOUTH WHITE AREA OF BLACKPOOL TOWN AND I WILL DEFINITELY BE RETURNING ONE DAY IN THE VERY...
Read moreFood was OK but the wait for it to come was a bit long.. Not expensive and for a Tuesday afternoon it was quite busy, so it's clearly popular but I just found a couple of the staff seemed to have an attitude. Firstly went to the bar to place our order and the guy just stood there and said nothing.. I said so can I order food.. "that's why I'm here" he responded. Unfortunately no mango skewers so I went back to the table so my husband could choose again.... Second time I got a small woman who was ok until she went to hand me my drink, double pink gin and lemonade. I asked for the glass to be topped up and with no ice originally so I said can I have it topped up with lemonade please.. It's got lemonade in it she told me.. Yes I know but can I have it topped up please. That costs extra - I'd already paid... I'll give it you this time but in future you'll need to pay for it!!!. And that's fine, if they charge extra for a centimetre extra of lemonade (which is what I got) , I'm happy to pay but I don't need passive aggressive attitude from anyone. I noticed her swing from super friendly with customers to quite sharp with others. I think locals got treated better by her and whilst taking my food order she stopped serving me twice once to rectify a drink for a regular that someone else was serving but she jumped in to say not to charge for a certain drink and again stopped serving me to ask a woman standing next to me if she was alright.. Can I have ice in my drink she said, of course, I'll get it now and that's exactly what she did. I was left twice standing at the bar while she dealt with things she didn't need to do so with emergency... it's just lucky for the bar that there was a lovely friendly guy serving who made conversation and was polite and professional...and filled my lemonade up properly on my second drink... Unfortunately we probably...
Read moreMy husband and I visited the Shovels in Blackpool on the 11/7/24. We had phoned up Three weeks previous to try and reserve a table which we had used many times before. We was told that they don’t reserve tables but would “see what they could do” and that the time the table we was asking about wasn’t reserved for anybody else. However when we arrived the table did have a reserve sign on it but with somebody else’s name. I understand that the pub gets busy and most of the tables did have reserved places on them. However the table we was put on was right by the open doors and was too cold to be sat there for any amount of time. We therefore ended up finding another table ourselves (in the pool room) which wasn’t ideal but I didn’t want to start complaining as we was lucky to get a table. As this was to celebrate my husbands birthday I felt quite upset the fact that we do visit Blackpool a lot (every month) for a week and only ever eat in the shovels as we really do enjoy the food which is always lovely and the staff do usually go out of their way to be helpful. We had a meal which was lovely and a couple of drinks each but my intention was to have a bottle of bubbly to celebrate my husbands birthday as well but instead we left immediately after our meal and in my eyes cutting our evening short. I just want to reiterate that this is not a complaint whatsoever about the meal because as usual the food was lovely. It was just so frustrating over the...
