A 18th century pub that still has original features it as four rooms were food can be purchased at the bar, to consume in three of the rooms the fixtures and decor have a nautical theme , the pub is dated in the fittings and seating but its adequate and cosy and clean. The food is home made and tasty at a reasonable price, the portions are good the menu should suit most people . Food is served lunch and evenings during most of the season but a winter period December to March limits the meal days and times. ( check before you go). The beers are good and there's a few choices , the bar is pleasant and well stocked the staff are friendly and polite. The toilets are in need of a refurbishment but are adequate ( men's). There is no car park but parking on the side of a quite road is OK , there is sparse outside seating on two sides of the building to the east and south . I have used this pub on numerous occasions , usually when I do the Humber Bridge walk, and will continue to do so.

Lovely Sunday Lunch venue. We were first time visitors with a table for 6, no real expectations but all of us were very happy with our lunch. Our table was ready, clean and easily accessible, our drinks order taken and delivered quickly. Between us we had roast beef lunch, lamb shank lunch and steak and ale pie plus desserts and all had drinks. The food was delicious, very well cooked and piping hot. The service was excellent and super friendly and the atmosphere was buzzing. Total speed for the 6 of us was less than £25 per head. Excellent value Parking is right outside the door and toilets and clean and modern I would recommend trying this place for a Sunday lunch

We moved to West Ella in East Riding back in September. We are enjoying finding new places to go. Anyway we found this pub after visiting the nearby Humber Bridge viewing area. From the outside it does not look much. Went in the first time just for a drink. Very pleasantly surprised. Nice selection of drinks, lovely staff and it was busy. We returned a few weeks later having booked a table to eat. All fresh home cooked food which was very tasty and decent. Plenty choice, main menu, specials menu, vegetarian menu and children's menu give enough choice for all tastes. Will be returning again

Superb food, one again. Three weeks into Debbie and Gee's new venture, I've sampled a good cross section of the menu, each and every one meeting what I consider fair but strict levels. With a range of fine beverages and other drinks, complimented by a great level of communication between many of Barton's more discerning pub regulars, whom since the relaunch of The Sloop have changed their "Home Port" to Waterside Road.

Great also, to meet a number of new residents to Barton whom have moved here over the past eighteen months whilst Covid has raged, and whom have chosen The Sloop as their favoured destination.

A lot now happening in Bartons "Waterside Area", plenty to explore including the Viking Way Cafe, the Ice Cream parlour, Andy Douse's farm, The Ropewalk, The Tileyard, the Riverside bird spotting Centre, nature reserves, and much much more, all worthy of exploration.

The Sloop is only some 500 yards south of Barton's transport interchange, regular buses (350) from Hull, Cleethorpes, Grimsby and Scunthorpe, with trains from Cleethorpes and Grimsby.

Time...

As a veggy, it's hard to find decent food, but this warm and welcoming pub has plenty of options and vegan options too. The staff are polite and friendly, the owner can't do enough for you. The atmosphere is friendly. Love the nautical decor. I had a carrot and paprika soup, which was honestly one of the most delicious I've ever had. My partner who is vegetarian also, had potato and garlic which was equally as delicious. For my main I had a quorn jalfrezi, which was an impressive size, fresh and delicious, my partner had a quorn hot pot, which was huge! He loved it, but couldn't finish it! There are a variety of beers for those that love ale, I had a Stowford's cider, not readily available in other pubs, so was pleased that it wasn't bog standard (in my opinion, horrid) Strongbow! We waddled off home to take a walk past the river and stomp off a bit of our bulge for a walk under the Humber Bridge. I highly recommend this pub and especially for my my veggy and vegan friends or strangers! Thank you to the owner and...

Came to Barton visiting a family member. Travelled by public transport from west Yorkshire and was looking for a dog friendly place to eat before I left for the journey home, after posting on a local group asking for recommendations because when I was searching lots of places wasn't open mondays or didn't do food that day, the sloop was mentioned alot. I have photos of being in the sloop from 35years ago with my nana ivy Salter and arty my grandad who often went in has they lived waterside road, so it was strange to see it in its updated modern self. Old memories stay in your mind I guess, but its extremely clean and looks like brand new, lovely that they have a small but varied variety of vegetarian food and I did ask for extra gravy (like my food swimming in the stuff lol) that was no problem at all. Food was nice and my dog fell asleep so she was obviously relaxed. My uncle enjoyed his food too. Designated area to eat with your dog with you. I'd definitely go again but couldn't if there was many other dogs...
