Tried to call several times before going just to check if a reservation would be needed but no answer so instead we decided to take a trip over and check.

I headed in first before we parked up to check and stood at the front for several minutes whilst staff kept walking past and ignoring.

I then stopped a member of staff to ask if I needed to wait to be seated and was told I didnt so I naturally went into the restaurant and secured 2 tables for 7 guests coming in.

After 10 minutes the guests I was waiting for came in and were followed by staff quizzing them about why they had walked straight in. The staff member was seemed one of the junior team and refered to her boss saying we had no reservation. The tone wasnt particularly friendly and it was more confrontational.

Then comes the manager...who's opening line was "Ive spoken to all of my staff and nobody has told you that you can come through" stating I was lying. Stating "I'd like to solve this issue for you" whilst accusing me of lying, using an aggressive tone and manner. Really poor.

I cant comment on the food, the views looked nice outside if you get a good seat, but the unprofessional nature of pre bookings...as they dont answer the phone..., of standing at the door like a lemon without a welcome, the nature of their staff accusing me of lying, etc...etc...just an absolute no for this place which looking at the other reviews is a real shame.

If the manager spent more time trying to sort the situation to confirm if there was indeed a space for us or not, rather than spend time saying we were lying and trying to find out which staff member they could shout at for accidently saying I could walk in when I didnt have a reservation, there might have been a solution. But she was insistent of us lying and wanting to get to the bottom of why a junior member of staff hadnt been sufficiently trained or was too overworked in the moment and...

I recently visited The Terrace in Hayle, and it completely blew me away. The menu offers a fantastic mix of pasta, pizza, grill options, and fresh local fish, but I went for the carbonara pasta – and honestly, it was out of this world. I’m still thinking about it even now, hours away from Hayle! The staff were perfect – so welcoming and friendly, which made the whole experience even better. The atmosphere was relaxed and cosy, with the added bonus of outdoor heaters for anyone sitting outside. It’s the kind of place you instantly feel comfortable in. Prices were very reasonable for the amazing quality of food and service. My only regret is that they aren’t open on Sundays ( but I also completely agree to why the staff all deserve a day off ! ) – I wanted to go back before heading home, but sadly missed out on a second visit. If you’re anywhere near Hayle, I can’t recommend The Terrace enough. I’ll definitely be returning next time I’m in Cornwall.

Was truly perfect, thankyou to all the staff 🤩 We was served by Hannah so thankyou Hannah for making it a wonderful experience, and thankyou to the chefs who making the most amazing food best pasta I...

We had a comfortable stay at The Treganna St Ives, a short and beautiful woodland walk from the madding crowds and cars. We dined at the Porthminster Beach Cafe, expensive but worth it and reminiscent of how Rick Stein used to be before it went corporate. However, the place that should absolutely be at the top of your dining list is The Italian Kitchen (The Terrace) in nearby Hayle. Previous reviews accurately describe it as a hidden gem and it does not disappoint. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming with a great background music soundtrack and the food is delicious, especially the Fish Pie and for dessert, the scrumptious waffles. There is something on the food and drink menu for everyone and it’s excellent value. Best of all, we loved the service team, most especially the remarkable Hannah who radiates positivity. Hannah was also an absolute star in clearing up the mess when a full glass of red accidentally tipped over. She has great empathy and style and put us at ease with her own stories about red wine on manoeuvres. Unreservedly recommended, it was the highlight of our stay and only wish the restaurant and the team could be...

For our stay in Hayle, this place was recommended by our host so we decided to give it a go. Booking a table wasn't very easy as they are very busy this time a year. Getting there was a start of an interesting journey, and the reason of my 3 star review is all because of the staff approach when it comes to hosting, serving, engaging with the customers and running the place all together. The food was very good, I had the duck breast and my partner chose the meatballs pasta. We also had the fresh bread with olive oil and cauliflower cheese croquettes as starters. The food did not disappoint at all! The staff on the other hand is the perfect example of a Gordon Ramsay show and how they need to be retrained and made aware/reminded of what customer service is! All of them were very disorganised, not paying any attention to their customers, fake empathetic reactions and making the whole dinning experience a poor one unfortunately. Even if the food was very good, it's not a place I would happily go back to.
