5 of us came for dinner. Sadly it didn't live up to all the positive reviews we read beforehand. The atmosphere and drinks were nice, but things then went downhill. All of the 4 bowls of chips had to be sent back as they arrived cold. They were at least warmed up a bit. My wife ordered a veggie burger without mushrooms but still came with. Then one of our guests didn't get their main course at all as the server forgot to put it on the ticket. While the waitress apologised and later took the burger off the bill which was appreciated, the meal was unfortunately a bit of a let down and not what we had originally hoped for a holiday dinner. The ribs and seafood chowder were however both very nice. Just a shame about the rest of the food and service. Would come for a drink but not for food.

Simply stunning food to die for,we got the nacho starter which was huge and very tasty with the freshest guacamole and sour cream dollops, juicy red sweet chilli peppers and warm crunchy nachos coated in melted cheese,my main was pork belly with apple mash with caramelised onion and kale which was incredible, the crackling was absolutely perfect and the pork belly was meaty and juicy hardly any fat at all the dish was topped off with a really tasty thin gravy ,the missus had the seafood chowder which consisted of clams, hake and prawns in a fresh cream white wine sauce ,huge portions and very reasonably priced, great atmosphere and the landlady has a great sense of humour and a warm welcoming smile, great pub, great food and a lovely experience overall

As a Canadian living in the UK on holiday in Cornwall, visiting the Cornish Arms was a no brainer when I heard poutine was on the menu! But while I came for the poutine, I was pretty blown away by the rest of menu! We got the Harry Trotter and Cousin Jack burgers that were both awesome, and the best surprise of all was the Korean style cauliflower! Every dish was large enough to be it's own meal and was delicious! If that isn't enough, it's dog friendly with indoor and outdoor seating, great decor, and very friendly service. Would visit again every time I'm in Cornwall!

I am very disappointed with this pub. My wife and I have visited here for a drink, (and on 2 occasions a meal), several times in the past, and so, on decided to go to a pub for the first time since they have all reopened after lock down, we chose this pub. It all started off quite well.

We were met at the door and directed towards the beer garden and informed that our order would be taken at the table. This did happen and so far so good.

However, it was a bit of a shock, being my first time in a pub for months, to pay nearly £11 for a gin and tonic and a bottle of flat cider. I say ‘flat’ cider, not for dramatic effect, but because it was totally flat and warm, to the extent that it was undrinkable. Not being one to make a fuss, I reluctantly took my glass to the bar. Once there I saw to 2 female and one male bar staff. As one of the females had been the one to serve me, I tried to get her attention, she was chatting with the other female and on seeing that I was trying to attract her attention, she gave me a dirty look and turned her back on me. The male member of staff asked me what the problem was and I apologised for the inconvenience showing him the flat drink. He said, “well it came out of a fresh bottle”. I said. “but it is flat - try it”, he sighed and repeated that it came from a bottle. I told him that it was undrinkable and he said that he could give me another bottle. No apology was offered and I felt the whole time, like I was conning them out of a fresh drink. Believe me, there is no way that I would go through that unless the first drink was so undrinkable! Whilst trying to convince the staff that I was not pulling a fast one, the female member of staff, (that had completely blanked me on my arrival), said quite bluntly, “step away from the bar”. I was then given a new bottle and empty glass by the barman – still no apology - I poured the drink into the glass and informed him – to deaf ears – that this seemed better, and feeling totally ignored and embarrassed, I went to return to the beer garden and my wife. Only to be stopped by another member of staff, who I assume was the landlady, who sent me out of the other door across a passageway into the next bar and then out into the joint seating area that adjoins both bars and on to the outside beer garden, with the comment, “it's a one way system”.

I appreciate that the law insists that a one-way system be put in place, but both exits lead to the same room. A room that was empty! There was absolutely no chance of infecting anyone by stepping the few yards into the same empty room that I was told to enter the long way round! I apologised and immediately complied – at this point, a thank you would have been nice! I eventually joined my wife outside, by now it was getting cold and the drunken members of the adjoining table were getting annoying so we drank up and left.

Not an excellent experience for our first return to drinking out.

I am sorry to say that we will not go back - ever, which upsets me, because we used to like this pub prior to lock down. I have read a lot about the hospitality trade panicking that people will not return due to the virus. In fact, I have empathised with them as nobody wants to see anyone's livelihood collapse, but I think in this case, there is a lot more they could have done to help their cause!

I spent just short of £11, for 2 drinks that would have cost around £1.50 at home. I was made to feel embarrassed and felt like I was trying to rip them off for a fresh pint, when in reality, they served me a flat drink, causing me the inconvenience of having to return it and be put through all of the above.

Do I really want to go through that again, when I can sit at home paying an 8th of the cost, with no embarrassment, not being made to sit out in the cold and with no annoying drunkards at an adjoining table?

‘You do the math’ – as our American cousins so...

Visited this place due to the reviews and seeing it many times while down in Hayle. I booked the table a while ago after enquiring that it had good wheelchair access. I was advised it did so I booked a table. When arriving the entrance door was not wide enough to get a standard size wheelchair through, so my husband opened the other door after pulling down the bolt and the door would only open a small amount. I eventually managed to get through the door only to have to negotiate a very tight bend with a metal stand in the way. This was moved by a member of staff. Getting through the next door was a nightmare after my hand got crushed against the door. We were then put at a table which you could only get one plate on it and if we were to sit there I would have to have my plate on my knee. The member of staff assumed I was going to transfer into a very low chair but I am a amputee. Eventually they found another table in another section, at the top of the ramp near the disabled toilet. After much negotiation around tables and moving stuff I managed to sit at the end of the table. The meal itself that is another thing, the Topside was nice, Yorkshire pudding stone cold and the roast potatoes covered in something which did not taste nice. I was so looking forward to this meal but it was so spoilt by the experience. The young girl who served us was pleasant and I felt sorry for her due to the experience I had as a disabled person. It total the meal for two of us plus half a carlsberg came to 32.50 because they knocked off the service charge which in this country is not something you...

I am shocked at the raving reviews here- this was cheap quality food for the price of a fancy restuarant.

Staff was very friendly and atmosphere was good. Table was sticky (as with most pubs, but considering the price...) Biggest issue was the food and price.

Popped in ordered 2 kids mains, 2 adults meal and drinks. Kids meals- mac n cheese, pizza. No drinks or dessert inc for £8-10, which is really adult price. Worst is its the same quality as microwave food. The mac n cheese was mushy and tasteless and the garlic bread was hard as a rock. Pizza tasted like reheated frozen pizza, definitely not fresh made.

Burger- doesnt come with fries and even waiter knows customers expect it. Instead comes with coleslaw and a whole pickle, which didnt go down well. Why dont you offer customers an option of fries for this £16 burger? It was very average in taste and the meat wasnt particularly juicy.

Mussels- I had fabulous fresh mussels elsewhere in cornwall and really looked forward to this, but they didnt cook off the alcohol taste enough and the mussels definitely was not fresh! It was same as the packet ones u get from the supermarket, so disappointed. Came with a tiny portion of fries for £20.

The waiter, although lovely, didnt come to ask how the food was until we were (reluctantly) finished. I left half the mussels but didnt want to make a fuss in the evening after a long day, but seeing as the bill came to £68 for such an awful dinner it is regretful I didn't. Can go to much nicer restuarants for that price.

Come here for a drink would be fine, but I would go...
