Royal Standard Inn — Restaurant in England

Incredibly rude barman. We planned to get our pasties and come for a beer (the sign outside invites you to do so) so I went ahead to take my little girl for a wee and to get the drinks. I was rudely told I had to buy a drink first despite the fact that my 3yo was hopping up and down. When the rest of my party arrived ready for beers, we were asked to leave as one of them had purchased a coffee with their pasty not realising we were heading straight to the pub. All 7 of us left upset and the pub sold us just one coke and a fruit shoot rather than 6 beers as we had planned. Bizarre business model. Wouldn't go here again if you paid...

Stayed in an air BNB behind the pub and literally pulled in the car park whilst trying to contact the air BnB owner as we couldn’t work out where we were meant to park. Received a fine even though we didn’t even have long enough to enter a parking contract. Called the pub as I’m aware the pub have the authority to cancel the fine on our behalf and they couldn’t have been less interested in helping us. Won’t be going in when we next...

Very friendly pub with the parrot! Welcoming atmosphere for an afternoon pint and a play on the jukebox 25p per song. It doesn't look child friendly from the outside, looks more like a grown ups pub but I was wrong. Staff (Rosie) and landlord were very good with children and even gave them free sweets! Would definitely visit again and probably will do tonight...
