Visited a very quiet Three Fish Beefeater on a Sunday in June 2024. We were pleased that we could get a table without advanced booking . The Three Fish is a large modern building next the Mere Park garden centre .
The restaurant is on a single flat floor with toilets alongside the main entrance inside the restaurant. A large bar and open kitchen is located alongside the left hand side of the main room. It is a modern building with plenty of space between the tables and has space/ tables for larger groups / parties to be accommodated. There are various service points around the restaurant and the place seemed to be adequately staffed with a barman and at least 4 waiting staff.
We decided to have a cocktail each to cheer ourselves up - my wife had a Rum Punch and I had a non alcoholic Peach Melba 'mocktail' . Both very nice - my wife says the only decent thing we had while were there! We then waited ages for further service for the food order .
My wife ordered a Fillet steak whilst I had a steak and ale pie . We watched whilst the staff stood around in groups having chats whilst customers seem to be left unattended. It is not the first time we have felt this in some places as ' Sunday staff' in some places seem to not have a customer focus . The food arrived and my wife had asked for a medium to well done Fillet steak - my description would be ' over done' it was well carbonised and looked very ashen ! My pie was also very dry and overcooked . We asked for some water to help us cope with the meal and it never appeared . We ended up walking to the bar to re-request the water. The groups of waiting staff continued to congregate and when we had enough we tried to catch the eye of the staff . Again we ended up having to get up and walk to the bar to ask for the bill .
This Beefeater is in a prime position but seems to lack the welcome and customer care that one would expect . I am afraid that I would recommend it based up our recent visit although it has the potential to be so...
Read moreMe and my husband went here for a meal and it was shocking, from the service to the food. Firstly, upon arrival we stood waiting to be seated for at least 5 minutes, doesn't sound a long time but when you're stood around waiting, not many people in this restaurant dining and the staff seem like they're not even acknowledging you it becomes a huge frustration. We were then seated but before we sat down were asked our drinks order! My husband asked what ciders they had to be told Thatchers on draft and then bottles... not explaining what bottles. Customer service?? We then ordered our food, nachos to start. They were cold, not even like they had been heated and let to cool, they must've been forgotten about as we waited a hell of a long time for them and then for them to arrive cold. We told the waitress who took them to be re done. The chef then bought them out and apologised. Our mains then came out before our starter had been cleared, all be it had finished (just) We both had burgers which weren't great at all and the 'triple cooked' chips were blatantly oven chips. Our table didn't get cleared and we weren't asked if we wanted another drink so there was no chance of being offered desserts so we decided to leave. We piled our plates and even put our coats on to make it pretty obvious we were ready to go and waiting the bill. There was us and 2 other tables of 2 so the place was far from busy. Staff were busy doing nothing it seemed!! Laying the tables on the far side for breakfast and bringing the cereals out baring in mind it was around 8:30-9pm! My husband got up and went to one of the waitresses and asked for the bill. She bought it over and didn't once ask how the meal was else I'd of told her how disappointed we were. She didn't say thank you or goodbye, just took the payment and walked away, the table was left with our empty plates and glasses even when we left. £40+ for the worst meal and service...
Read moreSo, despite the bad reviews, we decided to give this Beefeater the benefit of the doubt. What a mistake that was. I ordered the vegetable mix grill, the food came and it looked absolutely nothing like the picture on the menu. The food was vile. 1 slice of red pepper, 3 small soft wet corn on the cobs (that they originally forgot to give me, as well as forgetting the bbq sauce it comes with), Chewy tender stem broccoli. For £15.99 for a vegetarian dish, I assumed that it would come out like the picture, a platter full of roasted veg and lots of halloumi and big corn on the cobs. I had 1 piece of halloumi. And a small amount of flavourless, wet veg. My mum ordered the ribs and her food was sat under the hot plate staring at us for over 10 minutes. So, the grey coleslaw was served hot. She asked for it to be made again and had to wait another 15 plus minutes because the chef sent another tables food out first, so my mum could not eat with the rest of us. And £3.49 for a tiny portion of skinny fries (like a maccies portion honestly) is just crazy! My partner was served his cannelloni in a cereal bowl. No consideration for presentation at all, and the taste did not make up for it either! The waiter that served us was well mannered and very accommodating, a nice young gentlemen. But to be honest I think the chefs could not care less about the food they are chucking out. I was so disappointed. We will not be returning. The manager took my mother’s and my meals off the bill at the end. Which we are very...
