Went here after a long journey and saw how highly rated it was thought it would be a safe bet. Unfortunately my experience was nowhere near the rating it has. The beer was flat, my son's pizza was burnt almost to a crisp (luckily he's not fussy and doesn't eat the crusts anyway). I ordered a steak which, with no exaggeration, was not edible due to how gristly it was. Cutting through it with a steak knife was hard work, and after attempting to eat 2 pieces I had to send it back. The replacement I got was a little better and I struggled through it because I was hungry.

I do however want to give praise to the staff who apologised and replaced my steak with no fuss, but also took a picture of it as proof to their butcher that the meat was awful. The steak was also cooked as I would have expected it so this definitely isn't a criticism of the chef who cooked the steak.

If the second steak was better I would have rated higher, but as 2 out of the 3 meals we ordered shouldn't have left the kitchen I can't rate it any higher I'm afraid. Hopefully it was just our experience, but it has stopped us coming here for the rest of...

Service was what I would expect from a pub like restaurant. The atmosphere was also okay however the food was abysmal. I am writing this review months after going because I am still gobsmacked at the appaling meal I was served. I ordered a cheese and tomato pizza with garlic bread and yet they took something so beautifully simple and turned it into a weapon against my senses. The cheese and tomato pizza was quite literally that. It was a pre frozen base with slices of tomato and THEN a layer of rubbery cheese. I mean that is just wrong. Let alone the garlic bread. They would benefit highly from just cooking a frozen garlic bread from aldi as they've decided to use SLICED BREAD with garlic on. They are trying to be different to which they have succeeded but in all the wrong ways. PLEASE don't waste your money here as mine was wasted. I will forever deter anyone from this place if asked by friends or family. I think if a family member suggested this please I would have to never speak to them again. If I could give 0 stars. I would. The worst place I have ever had the displeasure...

My girlfriend and I visited this pub for food one day when we were staying in a cottage down the road.

The place wasn't very busy, and they weren't quite ready to start serving food when we got there, but the staff were very polite and let us know that it would only be a few minutes.

We ordered drinks and sat down to look at the menus. The drink selection is pretty good. The menu has a good selection of tasty-sounding foods too.

I ordered the Vine Burger. When it arrived it turned out to be pretty huge. The salad that came with it was so tasty that I actually ate all of that before touching the burger.

The meat was delicious, and quite crumbly compared to most burgers.

We stayed for a couple of drinks after we'd finished eating but left quite quickly when they turned on the karaoke. :)

Definitely worth a visit if you're...

Food was to die for!!!! My partner has the nachos with bbq pulled pork on top - she couldnt get enough😂 I had the Calamari - and even with the stinking cold I've got - the sauce was amazing. Partner had the sausage and mash, but was legitimately a bit full from too much nachos to finish it G but said it was amazing. I had the liver and bacon with mash, but far one of the best gravies/ju's I've had. Super super dog friendly, made our little sky feel welcome-brought her her own water bowl, and then a little later she got brought a nice biscuit bone treat - not necessary but these types of things need to be mentioned. Great service, above and beyond with the food - and great with the doggies. 10/10 will be back next time we visit the isle. X

The Vine Inn is at the Heart of Village life in St Helens. They really do so much for the local community. We had a lovely family meal , it's tasted fabulous, end really enjoyed it, my only slight moan is , and I hate to do it , could of done with more on the plate which was a sham. We eat at variety of places over the island and it's a shame this is my only moan , slight tweek and it's bang on the money. The pub has a excellent atmosphere with a good mix of locals and this time of the year holiday makers . Keep up the excellent work , and keep serving quality meals , just please add a little more on the plates . I shall return and sample more . Thanks for a lovely evening.

This must be one of the friendliest pubs I have ever stepped inside, dog friendly with bowls and treats on offer, staff were excellent made us feel very welcome, even the customers were very helpful with giving me recommendations for a garage as my car developed a small issue on the way down, meals were spot on, very fresh, my partner commented on how nice the calamari tasted and not chewy like other places, the nacho bowl with pulled pork also very tasty, mains we opted for hunters chicken and Gregorys tagliatelle with lemon meringue and deep filled apple pie to finish, all very tasty and if your in the area well worth the stop
