Me and my partner stayed here last night (24th April) check in was nice and easy and really friendly staff. We were instantly made to feel welcome. The older lady on duty (sorry we didn’t catch your name) was lovely and helped me out especially after I had forgotten a pair of scissors to wrap presents, a massive thank you to you! The room was a good size, very clean and well decorated. The bed was also really comfortable. We had a really good nights sleep. The bathroom was also very clean and the shower was amazing! We decided to have some drinks in the afternoon in the garden. The drinks were reasonably priced and a good selection. We also decided to have food in the evening. We booked a table for 7pm the service was brilliant and really friendly. A special thanks to Emily who made our evening and our stay extra special. She is brilliant at her job! The food was outstanding and the sausages and mash may just have been the best I’ve ever had! If at all possible please let me know where I can find some of those sausages! Breakfast the following morning was good. We ordered a full English it tasted amazing! Especially the sausages! Overall a great experience, attentive friendly staff. we will definitely be returning, and highly recommend! Thank you. Also worth mentioning, fridge by the rooms with extra milks and water, big smart T.V in the room and 20% off on food for residents, brilliant!

Nestled along the serene banks of the River Severn, The Water Rat in Ironbridge offers a charming blend of rustic charm and modern comfort. This riverside inn features cozy, uniquely decorated rooms ranging from small to medium sizes, each exuding a quirky character that adds to the overall warmth of the establishment. Ample on-site parking ensures a hassle-free stay, allowing guests to fully immerse themselves in the tranquil surroundings. The inn's hearty English breakfast is a highlight, with guests frequently praising its quality and flavour. The friendly and attentive staff contribute to the welcoming atmosphere, making visitors feel right at home. Situated in the heart of the Ironbridge Gorge, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, The Water Rat serves as an ideal base for exploring the area's rich industrial heritage. Just a short stroll away is the iconic Iron Bridge, the world's first cast-iron bridge, completed in 1779. Nearby attractions include the Coalport China Museum, showcasing exquisite ceramics from 1795 to 1926 , and the Coalbrookdale Museum of Iron, home to the revolutionary Old Furnace where Abraham Darby I pioneered coke smelting in 1709. For those seeking a blend of comfort, history, and natural beauty, The Water Rat in Ironbridge is a delightful choice.

The first half an hour was perfect, the staff were brilliant, very accommodating with our friends that have gastric bypass, letting them order off the lunch menu. The gents toilets were amazingly clean (apparently 😂). I ordered lamb and veg pie with chips (not mash). The meal came out.. minus the chips but with mash. I have to say this was rectified instantly. I opened the pie to find 2 small chunks of lamb and 1 piece of broccoli. Again the meal was sent back to the kitchen, a new meal came out (very quick). This time the pie had a couple more chunks of lamb, I piece of broccoli, 2 rounds of carrot and a runner bean. Worst part was the soggy pastry. My friends did eat that though (personal preference). No grudges here 😉. We ordered dessert, after 40 minutes decided to leave it. ( the place was not busy at all). My husband went to pay the bill, the poor ladies behind the bar were mortified at our experience and said we didn’t need to pay. We did however pay for the food ( minus my meal and the desserts we didnt have). I would not recommend the pie, or ordering dessert. Everything else was ok. Sorry I didn’t photo the pie.. wasn’t worth it 👍🏼

Received warm welcome and lady showed us to purchase room which was in a separate building next to the pub. Secure as accessed front door woth keypad. We had room 2 at the back which I'd recommend as quiet at night. Room was a good size with large tv and sofa. Bathroom had a smell of urine which we both noticed so we opened the window. Popped back tk the bar and ordered lunch and drinks which were good. We did mention the smell wnd said perhaps it was because it was jot and room was shut up but lady said housekeeping not there and it had been cleaned. I said there was no problem on cleanliness and it was fine for the night. I imagine it was the laminate flooring. Large fluffy towels, fridge in hall with water amd extra milk etc so everything you needed. Bed was comfy and we had a good night's sleep. We walked along the towpath to the Iron Bridge and back along the road. Evening meal was OK but we were the only people apart from one gentlemen so lacked a bit of atmosphere. Both staff members were lovely, warm and welcoming. Bit disappointed neither the starter or main course I'd wanted were available but chose something else. Food was good, tasty and hot. Price was fair value especially as we had a discount as we were residents which came as a nice surprise when we got the bill. Full English breakfast was good and cooked to order. Lady on duty was also warm and welcoming. All in all a fair place to stay. Wouldn't say it's undergone as recent a refurbishment as we'd thought. Bathroom and some furniture showing signs of deterioration. Good power shower though which is...

I highly recommend the Water Rat for special occasions! We booked out all the rooms for family to stay during our wedding, as well as booking the restaurant for a big group meal the night before our wedding, and a family breakfast the morning after. I also got ready at the Water Rat with my family and bridesmaids on the day of my wedding.

Lee and his team couldn't have been more accommodating. We talked extensively in the months ahead of the event and Lee was so friendly and helpful. He made sure we were completely happy with all arrangements and all details were correct.

During the Friday night meal, all the staff were very attentive and served everyone quickly even though it was a big group to manage.

On the morning of the wedding, the staff were so kind and made sure we had breakfast while getting ready. We were even waved off by some of the team as we left for the church which was lovely. The gardens were a lovely place to take pictures.

On the Sunday morning the team accommodated a bigger group for breakfast than they usually would, as typically breakfast is only served for guests. We really appreciate the extra length the team went to, as this meant we could have more family time before everyone left.

Accommodation was lovely, the rooms were bright and spacious and everything was thought of. Even a little fridge in the hallway with fresh milk was a nice touch. The river view was a beautiful and relaxing setting to get ready.

Everyone enjoyed their stay and we look forward to staying...

My wife noticed that there was an offer on at The Water Rat Inn in Ironbridge and so we thought that we would go and what a great decision that turned out to be, so I called them up and spoke to a friendly and helpful person called Lee and booked our table for 4 people. We had never been to the Water Rat but we were happy to try somewhere new, we were more than pleasantly surprised, the Water Rat is a large building situated next to the river and looks well maintained, when you enter the building its clean and is nicely decorated we were greeted by a woman with a friendly smile and was very friendly as she seated us and gave us our menus. Our drinks order was taken by the waitress, and then our food order we ordered 3 steaks and added sauce one beef burger and 3 portions of onion rings, the food arrived and looked fantastic the steaks were cooked to perfection, the chips were stunning and the onion rings were huge, everything we ordered was great, and obvious that the chef had clearly made sure that our dishes were perfect. The staff, all of them friendly, polite and attentive, as a family we enjoyed our evening very much, so much so that before leaving I booked an evening to return, when you work hard to earn your money and going out for a meal is a treat, it should feel special and the Water Rat Inn definitely achieve that, I have told all my friends about this place and would recommend it very highly. 5 Stars,...
